DRG to release A Family Affair on Cd on October 18th

Drg will release the first cd issue of the Original Broadway Cast of A Family Affair featuring Larry Kert (West Side Story, Company), Eileen Heckart (Bad Seed), Rita Gardner (Fantasticks), and Bibi Osterwald (The Golden Apple), on October 18th.

I'm very excited to hear this score.
A Family Affair

Me too. I wonder what other cast recordings they have control of...They seem to own part of the Angel catalogue.

An interesting flop...didn't make it even with Hal Prince attached (and John Kander's introduction to Broadway). Larry and Rita were wonderful (and Larry had one of the best songs - the truly terrific "There's a Room in My House" which deserved a better show)...Larry used to tell some great stories about this show.

A very welcome reissue.

P.S. This was something of a break-through show for newcomer Linda Lavin. Sorta like Streisand in "Wholesale" (another Jewish themed show)...but "Wholesale" was a hit and "Affair" wasn't so Linda had to look elsewhere for success.

William Goldman who wrote book and lyrics is now working with Adam Guettel, of course, on Adam's next musical.
