just found this piece online that ran on LOS ANGELES TIMES.COM "Culture Monster" section about DRIVING MISS DAISY which I found very interesting for the sheer fact that I haven't heard/read about anything else than what writer David Ng is providing conjecture on - and that is - the question if DMD is going to be eligable for Best Play or Best Revival. I said the same thing myself when I read that, uh, Best Play???
He cites OLEANNA as another example of a piece that while never performed on Broadway, was eligble as Best Revivial...
Writer David Ng proposes that perhaps Best Play is a moot option (and I so agree with this) because DRIVING MISS DAISY is part of the historical or cultural repetoire...) Duh, right?
So why even write this piece to begin with? I haven't seen or read anything else on the boards talking about that....
Meanwhile, i am so exicted to see this production. Cannot wait - catching it in a few weeks and will report back.
Curious to read other take on this LA Times piece tho...

Every time a show comes to Broadway what has already had a life off-broadway or regionally, the committee has to make a ruling as to whether or not it's a new show or a revival. Perhaps it's just that most BWW people already know that and most LA Times readers don't.

Yeah, it was news to me. Though I can't say I'd ever really thought about it.
I thought it was an interesting article.
