Does anyone know how long the originals will be in DRS?
I had ticket for 6/18 - but Lithgow was out (pre-planned way in advance I found out later). Exchanged for 6/19 - but Butz was out (reported as sick - and from what I have read on this site and saw on Gregory Jbarra's webcam - pretty bad throat issues). As a result, I switched tickets for my next NYC visit in August. I am now seeing it on Saturday evening 8/13.
Was wondering if anyone has heard/seen posts on how long originals have been contracted.
Big fan of Lithgow, Butz, Gleason and Jbarra. Hope they are all still in it when I actually get to go in August.
P.S. Before anyone trashes me on "thats the nature of theater" save it - I went through it all when posting questions on Hank Azaria's scheduled departure and the lack of any notice to ticket buyers. I have been seeing B'way shows since 1983 and I understand how it works. This is just an inquiry to get any available information.

I've read Norbert is contracted through February.

Greg's there at least through end of January 2006.
FYI ...
He has a week off coming up, June 26 - July 2.
He works tomorrow, Sat. the 25th; then the week off; he'll be back at work on Sunday the 3rd.

OK, I just have to say this. It isn't just about this thread...
IMO, when you know an actor's personal vacation schedule like that, it just for some reason doesn't seem right.
If you are "friends" with the actor, then you shouldn't be telling it.
But also, if you don't know the actor, then you still shouldn't be telling it.
Dunno why, it just kind of bothers me.

I don't see why an actor would be upset with his/her vacation schedule being made known? You can often get this information right from the BO.

Per Telecharge - Norbert will be out July 3 through July 9. This is universal information, not something I pulled from his dresser or anything...

Thes, I am probably, outside his immediate family, the most protective person in the world when it comes to Greg's personal information. The fact that he is off that week has been posted here before ... he has not only told me about it, but he has mentioned it to fans via email who have written him via his web site. So while he has opted to not have it 'advertised' on his web site, he also obviously doesn't have a problem with people knowing or posting about it here. (And yes, he does know about the prior posts here at BWW about it.)
And like others have said, you can often get this info from the BO anyway.
I would NEVER do or post anything that could in any way be harmful to Greg or put out too much info regarding his personal life or private schedule. I do appreciate the concern, but this really is pretty much public knowledge, at least on this message board it is by now.

i cant believe somebody had the audacity to accuse barb of that! wow. that just pisses me off.

Thanks, Liz, but it's okay. :)
Only reason I posted that additional info in my reply to the OP was because it was about people making plans to buy tickets based on contracts, and I thought mentioning the other might be helpful, at least to those interested in seeing Greg perform.
I really think Thes meant well. No harm, no foul, I guess. :)
It's cool.

Knowing Greg, he probably didn't want it advertised becasue he wants people to see DRS, not just him.

BSo, true ... I think that probably is the reason not to post it on his site ... more supportive of the show in general that way. But here on the board, where it's already "out there" anyway ... no big deal really.
This business about knowing vacation schedules is stupid. You can get the information at the box office if you ask, especially for stars in popular shows. There are certainly plenty of ways to find out, and I'm really at a loss for why it's inappropriate to know. No one is saying where the actors are going on vacation, and no one is running around posting specific reasons for non-scheduled absences. But scheduled vacations become public knowledge. You don't have to be a friend to know this stuff, and many fans do want to know when people they want to see are off. Chill.

OK - I just have to say this to echo Emcee...
If I shell out $105.00 for a ticket to see you in a show - and you and your co-star are plastered all over the ads for the show to "COME SEE US" - I expect to be told that this person will not be in the show on a SCHEDULED time off. Especially with the NO EXCHANGES NO REFUNDS policy they could adhere to. I recently had a ticket to see DRS and found out Lithgow was not in it that day. I later found out this was SCHEDULED MONTHS IN ADVANCE (before I got my ticket) so he could narrate some ballet (on weekend performances no doubt).
I don't care where they are going - I just want to know if they are NOT going to be in the place I paid $105.00 for them to be.
And again - as I stated in other posts on this type of thing - I have been going to NYC to see theater for over 20 years. I understand that understudies have to take over rolls for one or more performances. The nature of the beast. I am referring to SCHEDULED time off. Especially for this show when the two stars are so prominently featured. I know they did the same thing for Producers when Lane or Broderick scheduled time off.

How likely is it that a theatre will refund you a ticket if you were dissatisfied with a performance? How about if you went to see a specific performer and they were off?
I seriously want a refund from Fiddler On The Roof.

If you dislike the show, too bad. But if you go expecting to see the star being touted in all the adverts, an exchange is in order.
The box office at DRS exchanged my ticket twice - first when Lithgow was out (scheduled well in advance to advise customers I might add) and the next day when Butz was out sick.
This is how the current thread got started - I fully expect that another person will be MIA when my rescheduled show in August comes up.
If I was told when I was booking the ticket that Lithgow had scheduled time off for my Saturday matinee (and I found out from news reports that they did know), I would have booked a peformance earlier in the week. Why couldn't they give me that information when I booked the show rather than when I picked up my tickets?
