Posted: 7/14/05 at 6:22pmThe only French lyrics I remember are "je suis ici," which means "I am here." Isn't the spelling on the cast recording's insert?

Perhaps you should buy the Cd - with lyrics...
Je n'sais quoi (I don't know what)
Je suis ici - I am here
What else does she say in French?

She says "the way they say 'la vie' is French!" which is actually a very clever play on words on the classic French phrase, "c'est la vie" pronounced the same way. "C'est la vie" means something to the extent of "That's life".
Oh and, "I'm sorry if I seem jejeune (sp?)/I promise I'll find my marbles soon!"

Here. Now go translate. Why do people use message boards to do research they are too lazy to do themselves?

also:
excuse me if I seem too "jeune" = "young"

Thanks everybody for your help...I just saw the show yesterday and loved that song! I haven't had a chance to get the CD (with lyrics) yet.
BobbyBubby-When I searched online I couldn't find the lyrics- which is why I asked the question on the board in the 1st place...not because I'm just "too lazy" to find out on my own.
Next time you're that irritated, baby, don't respond.

Posted: 7/14/05 at 7:40pmit literally means "i don't know what"....which you might use to allude to a "special quality"

She says "excuse me if I seem jejeune" not "too jeune" as previously stated...
I'm looking in the cd booklet.
Having taken four years of french, I still don't know what jejeune is though! lol I know that jeune is young..and Je is I...but jejeune as one word??

Posted: 7/14/05 at 8:32pmI think the running joke in the song is that she rarely pronounces the French correctly -- "je ne sais quoi" and "je suis ici" is kind of Americanized, so that may be why "jejeune" isn't really a word :)

She doesn't pronounce "veni vidi vici" correctly either - I love that little character detail.

That's what I thought at first..but Je na sais quoi sounds the way a fluent speaker would say it
Je'n sais quoi (Juhn say quaw) I was taught that fluent speakers combine the Je's with 'nes and stuff...but I could be wrong --my HS sucked :)
and I agree about the jejuene and veni vidi vici..that's way off! :)

Je n'sais quoi is how she says it, and she says it right-ish...I mean, no French accent, but she gets the sounds pretty right.
It's usually used (in English) as...you have that certain, je ne sais quoi....something I can't even name.
