I would imagine to differentiate it from "Oklahoma!"
Maybe b/c it's an exciting song but they couldn't put a ! b/c that's already the title of a musical? I dunno.

Ok. thanx
. Stay tuned, I`m going to start another thread.
Nice of you to give us time to prepare.
haha goo
I think it is resembling Oklahoma!
And from Jameson's POV - Oklahoma? Huh? WTF! I can't move there!
If Oklahoma gets one more song written about it Wisconsin is just going to die from depresson...
No kidding. Even Arkansas got its own song.
Arkansas, Arkansas, I just love old Arkansas
Love my ma, love my pa, but I just love ole Arkansas.
The original song is written with an exclamation point "Oklahoma!" - so it's just one more thing to parody that, I believe.
Edit: I LOVE This song too! It's hysterical and she had a wonderful comic verve. One of my favorite roles on Broadway.
I have a question too: why was this song written at all? Oy. It was painful to sit through.
I disagree...I thought it was hilariously funny.
One of my favorite songs on the recording, in fact.
lawrence's "home alone" face pretty at the end of the song much explains it all! haha
and, i also loved the song. i personally think that sara ROCKED it!

DONT DARE INSULT ONE OF THE BEST/FUNNIEST SONGS IN THE SHOW!!!! SHAME ON YOU!! And the leading cause of death... Is melanoma!!
O no! Am I honestly alone on this one??!!?? ::cries:: Have the people posting against me seen the show or just commenting on the album. 'Cause seeing that number was what makes it so hard for me to enjoy.
I saw it and thought Sarah Gettelfinger was quite talented...and John Lithgow's dancing during the number was quite amusing...

One of my favorite parts of the show too. Song's hilarious and Sara is so funny performing it!
I thought Sara really sold it -- I fell in love with her the minute she was on stage and was thrilled when she broke out into this bug, flashy, corny production number. And I think it hilarious that the song ends with the chorus boys singing, in unison, "melanoma!"

Sara is Fabulous. Has anyone seen Rachelle Rac or Julie Connors play Jolene??
