I heard that a new song was added for Daddy Warbucks in Annie which is now playing at MSG theater. I was there last night and that song was not there! Where did it go? It was hard enough for the audience to get through "Something Was Missing."

I'm also glad "Herbert Hoover" was back since it was missing in the awful '98 revival. Last night's show runs rings around that production in every way yet the stage is 2 by nothing.

"I'd like to thank you Herbert Hoover" has always been pretty much my favourite song from the show. I have always been disapointed whenever it is dropped (and frankly it always seems to be the first thing ever to be dropped). I guess biting social commentry and 10 year old girls just don't go together.

I could be COMPLETELY wrong here, but I think they wrote a new song for Anthony Warlow to sing when he played Daddy Warbucks, in the new Australian production years ago. Please correct me if I am wrong.

No, "Something Was Missing" was the new song for Warbucks when Warlow did it.

There was a new song that was written for Warbucks(Conrad John Schuck) in this version but was taken out during the first year of its run out on tour.

In 2000/2001 Anthony starred as Daddy Warbucks in the hit musical Annie performing to over 400,000 people. The Director and original lyricist of the show, so impressed with Anthony's talent wrote a new song 'Why Should I Change a Thing' specifically for his performance.

The new song is sung by Warbucks after he's bought the new locket and is preparing to give it to Annie. It's a very lackluster song and doesn't really make sense, since he's already made the decision.

I love "Herbert Hoover", but when I directed the show, I had to remove it because I didn't have the personnel or the rehearsal time to do it justice. I agree it has the most "edge" in the show (and is one of the catchiest songs)--I suspect producers are inclined to take it out because they think no one is interested in historical humor any more (it also vanished in the Disney TV version, along with most of the Depression references.)

I ask in all honesty/What would life be?/Without a song and a dance, what are we?/So I say "Thank you for the music/For giving it to me."

I enjoyed the new song when I saw the tour the first year. it's a shame to hear that it has been cut.
