According to a post on All That Chat, Broadway actor Daniel McDonald has died at 46. He earned a Tony nomination for his work in STEEL PIER, starred as Dexter in HIGH SOCIETY and was a replacement in MAMMA MIA, just to name a few credits. There doesn't seem to be any online confirmation yet, but I know that he was ill for some time, so I believe that it's true.
Very, very sad. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.
Oh, no. He was great in STEEL PIER. Very sad.
He was also on All My Children for a period of time.

Brain cancer.
Wife and 2 small kids.
Beyond sad.
This is very sad. I've known for some time that he was gravely ill. He has a lovely young wife and two very young children.
It's very sad indeed.
It is true. My director is friends with him, and she got a phone call yesterday and was told he had died.
Very sad news.

So young. Fortunately, as a member of the Broadway family, I'm sure his wife and children will get lots of support.
Thoughts for peace of mind and heart to his family and friends.
He was a huge talent and I understand a lovely man. My thoughts and prayers are with his family. Anyone have a nice picture of him they can post?
Here's one from when he was on tour with CONTACT, about 5 years ago.
So handsome
He played Michael -- the gay teacher's -- only boyfriend on AMC. Not a contract player, but a valuable addition to the cast, and that story, which was fairly groundbreaking.
Is his wife an actress?
Prayers and best to his family and friends.
I am deeply saddened to hear this. Prayers.

How sad.
It's a little weird that in Mamma Mia right now, there's someone named David McDonald, who was also on All My Children.
Very sad news indeed. He was a wonderful actor (and dashingly handsome).

Good God! What horrible news. May he rest in peace.
You have to live each day as if it was your last
This came out of left field. Saw him in Steel Pier & High Society. What a shock
My sympathies to his family & relatives

A hand above the water,
An angel reaching for the sky...
Is it raining in heaven.
Do you want us to cry?
And everywhere the broken hearted,
On every lonely avenue
No-one could reach them...
No-one but you.
One by one
Only the good die young,
They're only flyin' too close to the sun
And life goes on -
Without you
Another tricky situation,
I get to drownin' in the blues,
And I find myself thinkin'
Well - what would you do?
Yeah - it was such an operation
Forever paying every due.
Hell, you made a sensation,
You found a way through - and
One by one
Only the good die young,
They're only flyin' too close to the sun
We'll remember -
Forever...
And now the party must be over.
I guess we'll never understand
The sense of your leaving...
Was it the way it was planned?
And so we grace another table
And raise our glasses one more time,
There's a face at the window,
And I ain't never, never sayin' goodbye...
One by one
Only the good die young,
They're only flying too close to the sun,
Cryin' for nothing,
Cryin' for no one...
No-one but you

McDonald was a graduate of one of my local colleges, Ithaca College, and his talent was recognized even as an undergraduate. While I have missed seeing him around Ithaca, I'm glad I got to see him on Broadway in STEEL PIER and HIGH SOCIETY. Let's hope he gets a "Second Chance."
He will be missed.
How does ATC always get these stories before us?

There's a clip of him on The Site that Shall Not Be Named doing a number from Steel Pier.

Turns out I saw him in Mamma Mia.
Even sadder knowing that.
