According to a post on All That Chat, Broadway actor Daniel McDonald has died at 46. He earned a Tony nomination for his work in STEEL PIER, starred as Dexter in HIGH SOCIETY and was a replacement in MAMMA MIA, just to name a few credits. There doesn't seem to be any online confirmation yet, but I know that he was ill for some time, so I believe that it's true.
Very, very sad. My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

This is very sad. I've known for some time that he was gravely ill. He has a lovely young wife and two very young children.

It is true. My director is friends with him, and she got a phone call yesterday and was told he had died.
Very sad news.
I am a firm believer in serendipity- all the random pieces coming together in one wonderful moment, when suddenly you see what their purpose was all along.

So young. Fortunately, as a member of the Broadway family, I'm sure his wife and children will get lots of support.

Here's one from when he was on tour with CONTACT, about 5 years ago.

Posted: 2/16/07 at 6:49pmMcDonald was a graduate of one of my local colleges, Ithaca College, and his talent was recognized even as an undergraduate. While I have missed seeing him around Ithaca, I'm glad I got to see him on Broadway in STEEL PIER and HIGH SOCIETY. Let's hope he gets a "Second Chance."
