Has anyone heard the Danish Cast Album of Chess (there' s one for sale on ebay)? Is it worth getting?
Thanks!
I enjoy it. From what I understand, it's one of the more complete albums of chess available. I enjoy many of the performances on it, though I'm not too fond of the actor who plays Freddie (his name escapes me at the moment). How much is it up for right now? I don't know if it's worth a ton....but if it's aroudn 20 or 30...go for it.

Ok Ok...it's my favorite recording of it. I prefer the Actor's Fudn Benefit from last year, but they decided not to record that. It's a shame. The Danish is usually the one I pop in when I want to listen to Chess.
I think the person was asking $45 . It shows up on there fairly often (not sure if it's the same person trying to sell it or not).
How is the actress that sings Florence (I like the Swedish live album but am not crazy about the Florence)?
Florence is Emma Kershaw. I think she's good...definitely better than the actress on the Swedish album, IMO.
I don't know about $45 if it has been coming up often. I was lucky and got mine for about $20. Though $45 isn't all that bad, I've seen it for about $70. It's your call. It's a good album though, worth getting eventually.
Thanks for the info BroadwayGirl!
I've only posted on the site a few times - I've been kind of hesitant because I've been reading through the posts and some of the members don't seem very welcoming to new people.
It is definitely the most complete and sung in English, but the orchestrations are awful and some of the voices are my least favorite of all the Chess recordings (Freddy in particular). I'm also not as fond of the ending with Florence's reprise of Anthem. I think I would have to see that to see if it works. My favorite recordings are the original concept and the concert recordings. The Swedish one is pretty good, too (if you don't mind listening in Swedish) and there is also a very interesting Region 2 DVD of the Swedish production.
Given the international popularity of the score, a full-scale revival is certainly due (not a one-night concert or a concert version). Since Roundabout seems to be successful at revivals, perhaps they could give it a go.
