Has anyone met or worked with casting director and former ValJean Dave Clemmons. He has been coming to my school for the past 2 years and has personally worked with me and the rest of my theatre dept. He's so nice and helpful and I was just curious if any of you have met or worked with him.

I was but i can't because I am going to summer school instead but pretty much my theatre dept at Shorter College got passed on. I wish I can go this year but can't but break legs and I hope you get some call backs! If you audition for Dave, he likes to hear old stuff, no Wicked or anything overdone. He likes to hear more Cole Porter and some others I can't recall now but have fun!

I mean, not that you shouldn't do nothing comtemporary, just not like Les Miz, LAst 5 Years is a good choice, he likes Jason Robert Brown. But whatever show cases you the most. And ladies, he doesn't like panty hose, don't know why! Where do you got to school at?

yes!! i'm doing the last five years!!!
I met him many years ago, as my high school had done a workshop with him and some cast members from Les Miserables. One of the nicest stage actor's I have ever met. He is my second favorite Valjean, next to Dudu Fischer, and sings Marguerite like no one else could. I wish that I could see him in more roles on Broadway, because he is a very talented person.

Yes! If you have him then you are golden!!
Yea he is super nice! I wish he would sing for us when he comes to my school. I hear he's so talented tho, but he loves casting so much he turned down the role of Che for the tour of Evita. Sad times but oh well

wow...that's quite a turn down.
He actually cast the tour of Evita and word on the street is that he almost cast himself as Che. I don't know if that was at the insistance of the creatives or what. Updated On: 3/2/05 at 05:13 PM

Yeha he's great! He came to my schoola few weeks ago and not only did a workshop for us, he even held auditions for Disneyland shows, Lost Colony and bway Theatre Project. But he didn't call back any of us in my sophomore class, because as soon as he was done with us, he got a call from NYC bc his choreographer for Joseph quit so he was busy with that. We figured he would call or email us after that but he didn't. He called back ppl in the other classes though. Oh well, life goes on.

Haha Shorter College in Rome Ga. It's an amazing school and Dave liked us so much last year that he was willing to do that. We have the best musical theatre dept in GA in my opinion.

I was an apprentice at Ann Reinking's Broadway Theatre Project last summer (and will hopefully be one this summer as well..), and dave actually stayed the whole time and music directed. He was VERY nice and very helpful. He led many seminars, like "musical theatre colleges," "life on the road," "the perfect song/ monologue," etc...and he helped me with my resume. He is a great guy, and very professional. He knows his $h!t!!!
