Has anyone seen David Burnham in the PIAZZA tour yet? I randomly saw him in NYC when he went on for Aaron Lazar one day, but thought he gave such an incredible, incredible performance. And he's ADORABLE. Love to hear thoughts.
Also, I found some songs of him singing on a demo of a show called "Awakening" ... www.myspace.com/awakeningthemusical
It's really gorgeous stuff ... which brings me to my next point:
Has anyone else happened upon new work like this? There's a whole bunch of new writers and shows that are spreading the word on myspace, and they are all linked together as friends so you can find a lot of material! You never know who will make it big, and you can find great new stuff for auditions I think!
Search the threads. Plenty of people have seen him. (Including me! He was good. :) )

Ah, I see. Sorry, I'm new to this board
More great songs I found, though:

Weird! I posted the other day about seeing Deborah Abramson's revue over at Barrington Stage Company ... and it's funny you mention Miller & Tysen, because they wrote "The Burnt Part Boys" that premiered over at Barrington, which was music directed by Deborah Abramson. AND Deborah's revue, "Travels With My Discontent" was music directed by J. Oconer Navarro, who wrote the music to "Awakening," which you also found on myspace that had David Burnham singing on it.
Oddly enough, or maybe not so oddly, they all went to the same writing program at NYU.

Amazing as Fabrizio in NY when he went on...and even more amazing in San Francisco on tour...good enough to make me fly from London to see him in it the first week of the tour. And certainly WORTH THE TRIP!
Hopefully, the show will eventually be done in England.

Further : from All That Chat's list of New releases :
"Added for Fall 2006:
David Burnham Solo Album
(LML Music - new on CD)
Singer/Actor currently in the Light in the Piazza tour. Fall 2006 release."
-------------------------------
Note that LML, singer Lee Lessak's label, tends to do wonderfully produced CDs of Broadway and cabaret people - so expect to hear a CD from Burnham with orchestra arrangements rather than a bare-bones piano/bass/drums kind of thing. Maybe on sale by the L.A. "Piazza" tour date since LML is an LA based label???? Hope so!
Ooh, thanks for sharing. Can't wait for that CD!

David says he'll be doing a jazz/acoustic version of 'Close Every Door' (from 'Joseph') on his upcoming CD.

And there isn't a measure of memorable theater music in any of it.

Well, that statement only applies if your small mind has already filled up on music, which can happen easily to people with limited imaginations and/or the effortlessly (and constantly) stodgy and waspish.
I thought some of the songs from The Awakening were very lovely and one of them was remarkable ("Over Here") and I'm curious about it now. Thanks for linking that nycoftime.

You're welcome! I actually found a couple more songs from "Awakening" on the composer's page, since the limit is 4 you can post on a myspace page. One is called "Stay Beautiful" and I love it, though I totally agree about "Over Here" being remarkable. Well, and David of course sounds amazing as usual.

I also recognized Megan McGinnis' voice on there ... it's cool that Broadway folk are reaching out and plunging into new work!
And OH, back to David, there is a davidburnham.com -- not exactly the most high tech website, but some great old pictures of David, etc.!

Who is singing "True" on the Miller and Tysen myspace?
I could have sworn I read somewhere that it was David, but I can't seem to find where (or if) I read it.
