The Sydney press are predicting David Campbell will be the next Danny Zuko in the forthcoming Arena Tour of GREASE. "Neighbours" TV star Natalie Basingthwaite (FOOTLOOSE, BYE BYE BIRDIE)looks set to be Sandy, with variously rumoured Australian Idol finalists in support.

The proposed Australian tour dates for the Anthony Warlow/Lesley Garrett concerts in May have been curtailed. The duo will now play only two shows in Sydney and two in Melbourne.

It already sounds better than any production of "Grease" I've ever seen...

I have Warlow's single of the last time he did Grease, and Campbell will be a wonderful Danny.

Hmm . . . I love David Campbell, but Grease?? That is a horrible show . . . he's better than that

Well for David, this is coming from the guy who said that after he finished Shout! and releasing his new album he wouldn't go back to musical theatre. Oh well. I think it would be cool if he were in Grease.

I hate Grease, but if it'll take David out of his "I'm gonna be just like Daddy" stage, then so be it.

Wasn't it "I don't want to be thought of as daddy's boy anymore and want to make a name for myself."? I'm trying to make fun it's just when he actually did musical theatre he wasn't thought so much of as his father's son. Oh well.

Last I heard David had turned down the role of Danny, but it's always possible he's been convinced to change his mind. If so, he'll be appearing on stage with Tamsin Carroll for a second time, which would be nice, as she'll be playing Rizzo. I'm linking to a discussion of the casting for anyone who's interested.

And David did play the lead in a concert version of Carousel last year, and did so very well indeed!
