I definately was not a fan of Hasselhoff's performance. However I thought Collen and Andrea were fantastic! Plus the gentleman that played Sir Danvers. I also though a good portion of the townspeople cast was great too. Murder Murder and Facade I thought were both extremely well done. The guy that played John Utterson however, not too fond of him. I hear he was good in other productions, but I didn't care for him in this.
ah...i see where its confusing that i love chuck and forgive david his shortcomings. i have to just clarify...i admire david for his hard work and dedication..was he my favorite? not even close...however, i found him to be extremely generous to actors on stage, meaning..he made each moment about the moment and not about himself. as an actor on the stage one judges things from a different perspective than an audience member would, i think. does that make sense? so thats where i am coming from. i didn't name names of the people i thought were overrated and if you posted earlier i forgot your favorite is..but agreeing to disagree is always ok! thats what makes us all unique. we all have different tastes and preferences. but its never a reason for people to get nasty like they do on this board sometimes. thank YOU for your civil replies! =) you have class!
My favorite lead for J&H is Robert Cuccioli (since you asked, sort of).
I only wish that everyone could agree to disagree. For me, theatre should be a constant learning experience. And How can you learn from people who always agree with you?

Very insightful Andrew... The "Jekyll-Go-Round" was quite an interesting spectacle. J&H reminds me of the "little train that could" in that it struggled up the hill for so long, taking aboard a surprising number of passengers that enjoyed the ride.
I agree that Joe Mahowald is an impressive actor who played this role as good as any of them. Many of the cast members are very fine actors. George Meritt, Becky Spencer, Ray McLeod and Brad Oscar are also among the most decent and professional people in the business.
Role-wise, the most dissapointing Jekyll on stage was Jack Wagner, imo. While he brought in some high numbers with his soap opera fame, he was certainlty not a popular person at the Plymouth.
IMO,the most enjoyable version of this show is the new J&H in Concert that is currently touring.
The best was Anthony Warlow who toured with the show before it made it to bway. I dont know why he didnt take it to NYC, but the recording is great...easily he is the best singer to have been recorded in the role.
"Carson has combined his passion for helping children with his love for one of Cincinnati's favorite past times - cornhole - to create a unique and exciting event perfect for a corporate outing, entertaining clients or family fun."
Colleen Sexton is AMAZING! I HATED DAVID HASELHOFF...I saw Robert Cuccioli and Christiane Noll and they were both fantastic though Christiane Noll is a stage door snob. She was just nasty.

David Hasselhoff is not the reason the show was recorded. A company was set up to record Broadway shows as they were closing, to be aired on pay-per-view. I think it was called the Broadway Network or something like that. They filmed a few shows. Originally, had the recordings been successful, they were going to try and work an arrangement to film shows that weren't closing, and should the show close within a few months of the airing, they would have had some compensation for the producers and performers. Obviously, it didn't work out as they had hoped and the project was abandoned. Though at least we got the superb cast of Smokey Joe's Cafe.
wait..warlow toured?? in australia or in the USA? i had heard from an inside source, that COULD be wrong...that anthony didn't want to do JH 8 times a week and ruin his voice (smart man) ..and i THINK, and again this COULD be misinformation..that he had a throat illness..someone said cancer...if i am wrong sorry if i have upset anyone...but has anyone else heard that? i AGREE...Warlow is amazing as JH and i would have given anything to see him do the role on stage... does anyone else think Hugh Jackman would have been an AMAZING JH!?? well, gorgeous anyway!! =)
Anthony Warlow was diagnosed with cancer of the blood some years ago but thankfully has been in remission for quite a long time. And you are correct, he never was J/H on stage. Apparently he doesn't enjoy being away from his family for long periods of time. I always found Christiane Noll to be very pleasant. I understand she once had a problem with a stalker and therefore was wary of strangers.
Hasselhoff should stick to german music and baywatch....J&H just wasn't his thing. Robert Cuccioli is my favorite Jekyll and Hyde...i thought he was fabulous!
