Out now, and i'm so glad this was done.

A few changes here and there when compared to the Broadway Production, most notably a fantastic reprise of Normal for Julia Knitel that i PRAY is included on the upcoming full cast recording.

Any reflections on how well it likely works/accessible it is for someone who has barely heard a note of the show, barely knows anything about it and has never seen it? I find it kind of exciting and new this was done but is it basically a cast recording with every dialogue and note?

"You can't overrate Bernadette Peters. She is such a genius. There's a moment in "Too Many Mornings" and Bernadette doing 'I wore green the last time' - It's a voice that is just already given up - it is so sorrowful. Tragic. You can see from that moment the show is going to be headed into such dark territory and it hinges on this tiny throwaway moment of the voice." - Ben Brantley (2022) "Bernadette's whole, stunning performance [as Rose in Gypsy] galvanized the actors capable of letting loose with her. Bernadette's Rose did take its rightful place, but too late, and unseen by too many who should have seen it" Arthur Laurents (2009) "Sondheim's own favorite star performances? [Bernadette] Peters in ''Sunday in the Park,'' Lansbury in ''Sweeney Todd'' and ''obviously, Ethel was thrilling in 'Gypsy.'' Nytimes, 2000

it's pretty much a recording of the entire stage show, both music and dialogue, with a few added 'touches' (crickets chirping and campfire crackling in the background, some added text & lyrics to explain some of the things that were visual in the show, and the mentioned 'Normal' reprise for Julia) to further enhance and explain the story for those that may have missed seeing it live.

Think of it as a fantastic old fashioned Radio Play, but with dynamic surround sound and effects....... plus the BRILLIANT narration of Jeb Brown.  I think it's equally enjoyable for both newbies and fans of the show........... very well done.

Dumb questions: How does Audible work? Am I reading correctly that there’s a 30-day free signup? If so, how does one cancel at the end?

I do have the advantage of having seen the musical on Broadway, although I gather that this is the off-Broadway version (so I’m sure it is a little different). Was the ‘Normal’ reprise part of the off-Broadway musical or was it added for the Audible release?

I am a big fan of ‘Normal,’ one of my favorite songs in the show, so a Julia Knitel reprise sounds great.

Man, I lost my good can headphones a while back and wish I had them for this. Still sounds good on earbuds, though. So glad it exists! Wish more musicals had complete recordings with all the book scenes like this but maybe we'll see more of these. It's not a proshot, but it may be a much more cost effective way of making basically a whole piece available to audiences outside of New York. Of course they used to do this with straight plays all the time. Love my vinyl copies of DEATH OF A SALESMAN and ...VIRGINIA WOOLF.
