I saw the show 3 times in Los Angeles and we never had any understudies perform. We really wanted to see an understudy for Evan because it is always interesting to see different actors in a role. Stephen Christopher Anthony was supposed to perform at the final show we had tickets for since it was a Sunday night - but Ben ended up going on. I did think that Ben was fantastic in the role and I loved his vocals. Jessica Phillips was also a standout as Heidi. Her "So Big, So Small" left me a sobbing mess every time.

I'm seriously thinking about asking my parents if we can see it in Buffalo on my birthday in May cause that's just under 3 hours from my hometown. I've been wanting to see DEH ever since it came out but honestly at this point since most of the original cast has left I don't really care if it's Broadway or tour. Plus my parents aren't really city people so I feel like tour is more likely...

I went to a Sunday evening performance in San Francisco, and Ben and the whole cast performed that night. No stand-bys/understudies.

Saw this in Vegas last night. Was my 5th time seeing and first time without "original" cast (twice in DC, once off broadway, once on, all with the original for that production). Ben Levi Ross did a good job - I was worried that no performance could hold up to Platt but it really was good.

I haven't read this whole thread so maybe it has been true, but this show runs long. We clocked in at 2 hours 55min including intermission. We did start a couple minutes late and I am not sure how long intermission was (the program said it would be 15, online says 20, I didn't time it) but this ended 25 minutes later than the stated running time. There were a lot of intentional silent pauses that seemed to stretch just a little too long. Overall though definitely enjoyed.

Jared came off much nerdier than Will Roland's version - it wasn't bad, but sometimes the cockiness of the character seemed a bit off.

I think this was one of the better performances I have seen of "To Break in a Glove", it had a bit of younger/hipper vibe to it, but that doesn't quite jive with the character of Larry as I have seen him before.

Its reported on Broadway Briefing this morning that the DEH Tour fully recouped! 12 weeks.

Wow well that didnt take long. I know tours play much bigger houses than Broadway but how often do tours recoup that quickly?

From a purely vocal standpoint, Ben Levi Ross is the best Evan of the five I've seen.

I loved Ben Levi Rosss vocals. The Ahmanson in Los Angeles, where it played for about 6 weeks, has just over 2,000 seats. Tickets were hard to come by and I believe it sold out most nights. I imagine the fact that it has a relatively small cast, means the operating costs are lower than some shows. It still seems like a quick recoup. Good for them.
