Yes, I thought the recent West End production would of had legs to make it to Broadway, with Jonathan Groff a fellow Tony nominated national would of been well received and Simon Russell Beale, who is so admired by Ben Brantley, one of his favorite British actors.

I saw DEATHTRAP several times during its Broadway run. (I was organizing lots of theater parties in those days!) The one thing that stands out is the incredibly mannered performance that Marian Seldes gave--and she never missed a performance! She was taking one stage pose after another and over-reacting to much of the dialogue. I've seen her give much better performances before and since.

Doug Wert IS a terrific actor; I saw him starring in the national tour of Take Me Out several years ago.

He's also the other half of the very talented Kate Shindle. Pretty sure they've been together for a while now.

Groff got pretty mixed reviews. All I can find video wise is the "trailer" though http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gdW7Aft5MSI

****SPOILER*****

SADLY...I will never get the image of Jonathan Groff and Simon Russell Beale kissing as long as I live.

...and not for the better.

So the kiss WAS in the revival? because, as mentioned, it's of course infamous from the film but not in the original production

The production with Simon Russell Beale and Jonathan Groff was eyeing Broadway. Not sure whatever happened.

I too saw it on stage before the film was released and the audience went berserk when Clifford bursts in at the end of Act I. I was with a woman who was so rattled she refused to go back in for Act II and she waited in the lobby for the rest of us.
