Olivier Awards 2026

Easily my least favorite ITW production.  While it’s a better musical, Evita was a much better production.

Surprised there wasn’t a post for this…happy to see a landslide for Paddington and a win for Zegler’s Evita!  Hopefully we see both productions in the next season!

Saw this yesterday. I consider it my favorite of all Wilson’s plays and saw the Sher production at least 5 times.  This production is very very good…not great.  The performances are all well formed, a great ensemble indeed.  It did reinforce that this is an ensemble piece, so the fact that there are two big name leads makes the appeal factor less relevant (but, they were indeed, quite good!).

What the production lacks is the magical realism of the

Shocked, but I’m so here for this! Wouldn’t be too surprised if it coincided with a limited engagement of some musical.

More than anything, is everyone still hating on Cats? Or have they admitted the material wasn't the issue?"

Let’s be clear: the material is, now and always, gonna be ****. But this production elevated the material in the same way a great regie-director elevates La bohème, Tosca, or any Handel opera.

The production is the show: not the music.

Ben Platt & Rachel Zegler - THE LAST FIVE YEARS (NYC/LA)
 Apr 7 2026, 10:50:53 PM

Back at my hotel, and all I can add to others is that Rachel needs to be a fixture of Broadway.   Let’s start with her amazing performance in Evita, let her win the Tony, and we can take it from there.

Everything, and everyone else, was….perfectly fine. I mean, just fine.  I’ll just add that, no matter how much he works out, Ben will never play a legit sexual interest for a woman or a man: complete absence of chemistry.

I don’t think it really matters if you’re in the first two or three rows.

Speaking of seating, I sat second row mezz stage left and for a good deal through TodayTix.  Pretty close to the aisle, but the seat was perfect!  Or, should I say: purrrrrrfect.

....I'll see myself out.

But with that being said, I had an absolute BLAST seeing it again and I was grinning ear to ear the whole time. I can’t believe it, but I actually got choked up once or twice. Just pure queer joy on Broadway, what more could we ask for? Such a welcome balm in these troubled times.

The cast is amazing and Iwant to shout outEmma Sofia who plays Skimbleshanks. I find her

ENCORES! THE WILD PARTY Review - 1 Minute Critic
 Mar 24 2026, 10:34:33 PM

After 15 years of attending shows at City Center, this is easily among my top five favorite Encores! performances.  This was so much more than an Encores! show but instead a lived-in and thought-through production, reminiscent of watching a Robert Altman film on stage.  And what a perfect vehicle for Encores!: I can’t see this ever succeeding commercially and even backed by a not-for-profit, this would be a tough sell.  While I’d be shocked that this production got

Whomever suggested watching Paris is Burning before seeing the Jellicle Ball was entirely correct.  I know ballroom culture from a lot of sources, but not this one.  It makes the show more visceral.  I saw this off- Broadway, but I’m even more excited to see this again next week!

Bitch, please. I was scheduled to be at La Traviata Tuesday staring the great Lisette Orapesa, but re-arranged my plans for this based upon everything I’ve heard: On par with Ragtime seems to be the conscience.

Say what you will about the guy: but **** ya!  Altman shouldn't have been accepted there (or in polite society, generally) and Harris said exactly what so many of us on this board would love the opportunity to say!
