Teri Hatcher and Enrico Colantoni will star, with Jason Alexander returning to Chicago Shakespeare to direct. Performances will begin on April 18 and run through May 24 in The Yard on Navy Pier (tickets and more information at www.chicagoshakes.com).

Thank you…this was not on their page a couple of days ago!

What they are able to do with with so little is kind of incredible. Their phenomenal Jekyll and Hyde is actually going to be a part of the Broadway in Chicago theater season in the fall.

If you can get out to Aurora. Paramount Theatre is putting on South Pacific. They are the opposite of Kokandy in th

Reaching out to my Chicagoans here...anything jumping out at you for Spring/Summer?

Definitely in Chicago between the last two weeks in April and will be booking Ma Rainey at the Goodman and Merry Wives at the CST.  There are three shows going on at the Steppenwolf, but really only Windfall is grabbing my attention.

Any other recs ya'll might share?

Believe it or not, there is a rather large world out there - outside of the theater-sphere. Might be worthwhile to take a peek at it every so often.

Preach. I thought I was done with this show but think I need to see this icon on a Broadway stage and this show one more time. What a get, and very out-the-box choice.

THE MONSTERS at City Center (MTC)

Booked Monsters, so happy to run the center on these two fields of opinions!

Not to highjack this thread, but looks like I may have a slot for Saturday night.  Any suggestions?  I'm caught up on Broadway so looking for off- or off-off.

Thanks in advance!

Thank you!  I saw the Broadway run of Spelling Bee and I'm in the City pretty much weekly, so I am inclined towards the Monsters.  That said, I'm in for a theater weekend and It'll be a back to back showing of that and Bug, which will make for fascinating conversation!

So torn…in town next week, this or Spelling Bee 😬

Jeffrey Wright & Octavia Spencer to star in DEATH OF A SALESMAN film
 Feb 12 2026, 04:57:04 PM

Doesn’t really matter who was offered the role: an incredible actor landed it with an equally stunning actress.

Personally, I think Denzel would - somehow - make the part bigger than it should be. Jeffrey will really bring out the quiet moments. I cannot wait for this!

GALILEO to Open at the Shubert Theatre, Fall 2026

This seems like a very very bad idea.  The size of the theater alone should have been a nonstarter, even if closing off the balcony.  Happy to be proven wrong though.

CHESS (2025 Broadway Revival) Reviews

Saw this Saturday: Lea’s understudy is incredible (and lacked Lea’s affectations 😬).  Incredible performances all around, but my God, this show is ****.

I agree, but after her Evita, I must see this…

What happened to Julie Taymor?

While I disagree, it’s been a fixture at the Met for over a decade now in multiple forms. She must make bank on that as well. I’ll also say her Grounded at the Public was quite stunning, wish it would have transferred.

Totally this!

LCT's MAN OF LA MANCHA Concert

I love this musical, but Rolando (who I adored in his prime) hasn’t been able to get through a performance in years, much less a full run, hence why he became a director.

Would love a Sher LC revival, I just can’t imagine a world where any producer or production company would bank on RV.

Yes, go to social media accounts, but also come here.  Historically, a thread appears and we all post the best discounts.  Probably not 50 bucks but I saw Billy Elliot at that price when it was a very hot show because of a snow day discount.

Very, I used to really look forward to this festival.  It has become a poor shadow of itself.

If not shut down (probably unlikely), I foresee a lot of nice snow day discounts!

Trump takeover of DC

Has Peter Gelb or anyone else in the nyc opera establishment ever extended any helpto this company? Have they even uttered a word of support for them?"

Why would they? They are competing arts institutions going for a very similar donor pool.

While I know it almost certainly wont happen this season, this theater would be absolutely perfect for Paddington.
