Deborah Cox doesn't do Tuesday eves or Weds Matinee
#304Superstar or not
Posted: 5/12/04 at 1:23pmI, like hundreds of others, chatted with her briefly last night via her website. If the mark of a superstar is being totally inaccessible to fans then I prefer her the way she is, however we choose to classify her. That lady is a first class act.

Posted: 5/12/04 at 1:25pmI forgot about Reba! She was the best. She should return to Broadway. What other role would be perfect for her? She was born to play Annie, I think.

Dame:
Hey - if she weren't a superstar (or a star of some sort), she wouldn't be cast as a judge on anybody's show - especially one as popular as Regis. Besides, I've always felt that if talent was going to be judged, it should be judged by true talent...not people like Randy, Paula & Simon. lol!
Nipper:
If Reba has no link/association to AIDA or Deborah Cox, you'll have to take the topic elsewhere!! i'm really just joking, but i'm kinda not.

YEA!! page 13. You guys/girls (being pc) have been busy while I was going. CRP becareful how you throw that word 'superstar' around, some might take offense.
I'm so so so happy to see "EAL" is climbing up the charts. If was only in NYC so I can hear it in a club.
...and Reba who????
#308Superstar or not
Posted: 5/12/04 at 7:40pmOh honey; trust me. A superstar would not be doing what she was doing this morning on Regis. And I am not classifying her by talent. She is extremely talented. just not a superstar.

#311Superstar or not
Posted: 5/13/04 at 2:12amThat still looks to me like Ryan Seacrest.
#312Superstar or not
Posted: 5/13/04 at 2:18amIsn't it Ryan Seacrest? No? Mark McGrath?
#313Superstar or not
Posted: 5/13/04 at 2:23amIt's Adam Pascal from an apperance on Rosie O'Donnell's show

Deborah IS a SuperStar....and that is definitely Ryan Seacrest!
#315Superstar or not
Posted: 5/13/04 at 9:51amLooks like Pascal but while we're on the subject, it's like I always say about Jennifer Lopez. That she is proof that there is a Devil and that you can sell your soul for fame. In Seacrests' case, he's proof that you can have absolutely no talent/charm/personality etc... and therfore, have to sleep your way to the top.(it's just a hunch, I know no facts) But I digress, Deborah Cox is the best Aida...ever! Good, now we're back on track.

Let's forget talent for a mo!
There is such a thing as STAR QUALITY!
Spears, Beyonce and Lopez both have that little something extra that seperated them from the pack..They had it at 12...they have it now!!
End of story!!
Was Jean Harlow the greatest Actress or did she have something more going for her!
Does it matter that Monroe never did 8 shows a week?
For years Broadway "mavens" used to spit on Madonna while crowing about Lenora Nemitz!!!!
Karen Ziemba and Sutton Foster can do 23 shows a week and they will NEVER HAVE AN OUNCE OF STAR QUALITY!!!! EVER!
They can sing live till they're cords fall out ...THEY WILL NEVER ACHEIVE GREAT FAME! EVER!!
..and the sad part is the Broadway "mavens' sense that and feel the need to take a dump on everyone else who has had worldwide success!!
Broadway is DYING because it is SUFFOCATING from well-trained, well mannered performers who have the unique ability to do 8 shows a week and have NOTHING ELSE!!!

Posted: 5/13/04 at 11:57amSweet Jesus, I agree with Voice 1000%. What's happening to my life? although, I still think that Lopez is proof of satans existence.
#319Oh Not again!
Posted: 5/13/04 at 12:11pmJennifer Lopez isn't proof of Satan's existence. She IS Satan. And I am sorry, but I have to take issue with Britney's so called star quality. From what I can see, all she can do is wear not very much and lip synch whilst doing (admittedly) great dance routines. Too bad she's not a guy or she would have a stellar future ahead of her as a drag queen.

As for lip synching!
Andy Warhol painted maybe 15% of the paintings he sold under his name.....I know of NO ONE who would'nt give a finger to own one of those soupcans!! ...and they will NEVER decrease in value!
He directed maybe 10% of the films he claimed to be involved in yet those film REMAIN enshrined as the birth of the independent film movemment!
People work on biographies and documetaries DAILY on Warhol Superstars such as Joe Dallesandro and Edie Sedgwick!
He did maybe 5% of the work on INTERVIEW magazine yet the publication has been running for 30+ years!
When asked what he had to say in defense of his critics, Warhol shrugged and said "What can I say? They're right!"
That's called having MAGIC! Star Quality! IT!
Karen Ziemba....indeed!

Aldente;
You said "In Seacrests' case, he's proof that you can have absolutely no talent/charm/personality etc... and therfore, have to sleep your way to the top.(it's just a hunch, I know no facts)"
I am surpirsed you feel that way. I think he does a wonderful job hosting both of his shows. He is very charming and sweet and full of personality. AND THIS HUSSY WANTS HIM BAD. And according to some of the staffers with Idol; one of the nices most genuine guys you will ever meet.

DEBORAH COX IS A SUPERSTAR!!
As for Ryan, I've been a fan of his ever since he dedicated an entire show to Janet Jackson!! Gotta love him for that!!
I think he's fairly good at what he does - he has a lot of personality.
#323Oh Not again!
Posted: 5/13/04 at 1:36pmI loved when he had Janet Jackson. LOVED IT! We also tivo his show and watch it while we cook at night.

Posted: 5/13/04 at 1:59pmI don't see how the discussion on the fact that DC doensn't do certain performances has led to a discussion on Ryan Seacrest's charm....this thread should have ended long ago....
