Joey Mac just IMmed me and said that Debroah was going to be the new Elphaba. Isnt that WONDERFUL?
re: Deborah Gibson#4
Posted: 11/9/04 at 12:18pmA law should be passed forbiding her to ever set foot on a Broadway stage or any stage for that matter ever again.

Posted: 11/9/04 at 3:53pmLast I heard she did Beauty and the Beast in Chicago.....I think she is coming out with a new greatest hits album or something... not sure though...a friend of mine worked with her in Chicago and didn't realize who she was and I had to play a song...it was cool...

Posted: 11/9/04 at 5:04pmAll I know is she was a godawful Eponine. I had to go home and listen to Frances Ruffelle for hours to recover.

I kinda like her. At least her heart is in what she is doing. These days, that is a lot ask for.
By the way who is that handsome Bobby?

Posted: 11/9/04 at 9:47pmOh wow...I completely disagree with you, blueroses. I thought she was great as Eponine. I liked the more tomboy-ish portrayal that she brought to the show. I always pictured Eponine to be more like that than the several other actresses I saw in the role. Plus, Debs rokks!

Posted: 11/9/04 at 10:00pmOh GOD! Please tell me NO! I have tickets for February, cause that is the only time I could get there, hate missing Idina, but wanted to see "Wicked", so if she really is Elphaba, I will be selling the tickets.Have seen her perform, do not wish to ever see it again.

She was terrific as Louis in the Papermill Playhouse production of Gypsy with Betty Buckley....if she never did the pop stuff, I think we would have different opinions....
I'd see her again!

Posted: 11/10/04 at 1:02amMs. Gibson's "Colored Lights" CD was an unfortunate attempt to bridge the gap between Teeny-Bop and Musical Theatre. Debbie Gibson, however, is a very talented musical theatre actress who can sing and act with the best of them- and she dances relatively well too. She is doing musical theatre across the country and she's trying to get her musical "Skirts" produced.

I like Deborah too. I, for one, really enjoyed her as Sally Bowles.

Posted: 11/10/04 at 10:08amI saw Deborah in the tours of FUNNY GIRL, CINDERELLA and JOSEPH...DREAMCOAT. I thought she was horribly miscast in CINDERELLA (the plucky tomboyish thing didn't work) but I had quite a bit of respect for her after watching the two other shows. Neither production was particularly good, but she really worked her tail off and had undeniable presence.

Posted: 11/10/04 at 12:12pmthanks timote386, i was frickin freaking out! i have tickets for "Hairspray" and "Mama Mia" too! Have been so excited, and that about ruined it. I disagree that she can dance, saw her in a dance show, and she stood out next to the trained dancers and had real trouble keeping up. Her lisp might work as Elphaba but her personality would ruin it for me. Can relax now and look forward to my vacation, thanks again! On a side note, I think Harvey's voice in Fiddler as Tevye would grate on my nerves too?! Have to think that one over.

Posted: 11/11/04 at 2:27pmI saw Deborah Gibson ten years ago as Sandy in Grease in London. She was not bad. I mean if Olivia Newton-John pulled that off......and nothing against Olivia!
