Deborah Gibson

Where is she? I miss that lisp. Lets put her (back) in something. Shes cute, shes sweet, shes great on stage. Throw her back into Velma Kelly until theres something more fun. Hmmm

re: Deborah Gibson

I don't care what she does, as long as it's NOT Sally Bowles.

Joey Mac just IMmed me and said that Debroah was going to be the new Elphaba. Isnt that WONDERFUL? re: Deborah Gibson

re: Deborah Gibson

A law should be passed forbiding her to ever set foot on a Broadway stage or any stage for that matter ever again.

re: Deborah Gibson

Last I heard she did Beauty and the Beast in Chicago.....I think she is coming out with a new greatest hits album or something... not sure though...a friend of mine worked with her in Chicago and didn't realize who she was and I had to play a song...it was cool...

re: Deborah Gibson

All I know is she was a godawful Eponine. I had to go home and listen to Frances Ruffelle for hours to recover.

re: Deborah Gibson

I kinda like her. At least her heart is in what she is doing. These days, that is a lot ask for.

By the way who is that handsome Bobby?

re: Deborah Gibson

Oh wow...I completely disagree with you, blueroses. I thought she was great as Eponine. I liked the more tomboy-ish portrayal that she brought to the show. I always pictured Eponine to be more like that than the several other actresses I saw in the role. Plus, Debs rokks!

Oh GOD! Please tell me NO! I have tickets for February, cause that is the only time I could get there, hate missing Idina, but wanted to see "Wicked", so if she really is Elphaba, I will be selling the tickets.Have seen her perform, do not wish to ever see it again.

re: Deborah Gibson

She was terrific as Louis in the Papermill Playhouse production of Gypsy with Betty Buckley....if she never did the pop stuff, I think we would have different opinions....

I'd see her again!

re: Deborah Gibson

Ms. Gibson's "Colored Lights" CD was an unfortunate attempt to bridge the gap between Teeny-Bop and Musical Theatre. Debbie Gibson, however, is a very talented musical theatre actress who can sing and act with the best of them- and she dances relatively well too. She is doing musical theatre across the country and she's trying to get her musical "Skirts" produced.
"It does what a musical is supposed to do; it takes you to another world. And it gives you a little tune to carry in your head. Something to take you away from the dreary horrors of the real world. A little something for when you're feeling blue. You know?"

re: Deborah Gibson

I like Deborah too. I, for one, really enjoyed her as Sally Bowles.

re: Deborah Gibson

I saw Deborah in the tours of FUNNY GIRL, CINDERELLA and JOSEPH...DREAMCOAT. I thought she was horribly miscast in CINDERELLA (the plucky tomboyish thing didn't work) but I had quite a bit of respect for her after watching the two other shows. Neither production was particularly good, but she really worked her tail off and had undeniable presence.

re: Deborah Gibson

thanks timote386, i was frickin freaking out! i have tickets for "Hairspray" and "Mama Mia" too! Have been so excited, and that about ruined it. I disagree that she can dance, saw her in a dance show, and she stood out next to the trained dancers and had real trouble keeping up. Her lisp might work as Elphaba but her personality would ruin it for me. Can relax now and look forward to my vacation, thanks again! On a side note, I think Harvey's voice in Fiddler as Tevye would grate on my nerves too?! Have to think that one over.

re: Deborah Gibson

I saw Deborah Gibson ten years ago as Sandy in Grease in London. She was not bad. I mean if Olivia Newton-John pulled that off......and nothing against Olivia!

re: Deborah Gibson

I saw Deborah in the "Joseph..." tour as well. She sang the hell out of that. I would love to see her back.
And if she'll say, "My darling, I'm yours!" I'll throw away my striped tie and my best pressed tweed, all I really need is the girl...

I saw Deb Gibson perform in Joseph in SF when I was in 6th grade (I am currently in grad school now) and thought she was wonderful.
