This might have already been discussed here... but did any of you find the "Deep Throat" joke (about Harvey) has funny as I did? It was an excellent current events joke, and the look on Harvey's face was priceless. I laughed even harder when I thought about it airing on CBS :)

Hilarious and I'll never forget the first time I heard him speak, on Broadway - Torch Song Trilogy. What a shock. :)

Yeah, I know that deep throat has something to do with watergate blah blah i'm young so I don't really know. But what does "deep throat" have to do with HF?

1. Deep Throat is currently in the news because he (an FBI exec officer) leaked info to the Washington Post about Watergate in the 1960s.

2. Deep Throat, the famous porn movie and sexual activity (some say skill!). Harvey Fierstein, as a gay man, would probably know a thing or two about the advantages of a deep throat.

3. Harvey Fierstein has a deep voice, another meaning behind "deep throat"!

Yeah i heard the joke and LOVED it just cuz i thought that it meant that vocally, Harvey has a deep voice. So i skipped in to tell my parents about it and I got as far as "Mom! Dad! Billy Crystal just said that Harvey was the new Deep Thr.........." and realized the REAL meaning behind it. Embarassing, to say the least, to be discussing sexual acts with my parents. hehe.

When Harvey was in TORCHSONG there were many articles that discussed his past. Several of these articles suggested that he had a past that was far from angelic. These same articles implied that he got his deep voice from too much "deep throating". It was so long ago that I can't site my sources.

I think as Funny as that was
the show was quite emotional
knowing Edward Albee lost his
Companion and CBS respected Him
enought to show that
and Cherry and Sara
and Jerry and (sorry I don't know his name)
seemed like the norm on Broadway and CBS
