CHESS Previews Oct 16 2025, 11:17:19 AM
Having listened to the audio, it sounded like the only "riffing" Lea did was at the end of Nobody's Side because the chorus was VERY LOUD. Had she not "riffed" her vocals would have been drowned out.

Jennifer Lopez to Star in KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN Film Oct 11 2025, 11:11:05 AM
Reflecting on this a bit more. Because they focus one ONE movie, it keeps Aurora pretty contained and doesn't allow for "more rangy" stuff from Jlo and the "Aurora" character is not the most dynamic. Also, did I miss the "Viva La Guerra" bit earlier in the movie? It comes out of nowhere in the end and it's meant to reference a specific scene/joke from a different Aurora film.

Having sat with the experience now for a few hours, I do wonder why . . . Click Here To Toggle Spoiler Content They didn't have Molina being killed in the prison, in front of Valentin. That scene is so iconic/cinematic and the stakes are so high and it would have given both actors an additional "Oscar" moment. While I appreciated t

Saw this today and, having loved the musical since I was in high school, I was going to have a great/emotional time no matter what. I was slightly concerned when I heard the soundtrack earlier this week but I think with the glorious visuals and choreo, Jlo's voice fits fine. It will def. be a film that I come back to, but not necessarily a soundtrack I will keep on replay,.

THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON Heading to Broadway Next Season Jun 19 2025, 12:43:17 PM
I hope you are right - I would LOVE for this to succeed. I do think that tourists might think they're going to watch the Brad Pitt movie musical. haha.

THE CURIOUS CASE OF BENJAMIN BUTTON Heading to Broadway Next Season Jun 19 2025, 10:43:21 AM
This was one of the best musicals I have ever seen, but I worry it won't find an audience in NYC. It's too intimate and very UK-specific. I wish it would find a nice off-broadway house.

SMASH To Close June 22, 2025 Jun 11 2025, 05:16:44 PM
I mean at the top of the list of misfires here is not having Ivy and Karen sing "Let Me Be Your Star" - that is arguably the most memorable moment on the tv-series. I had such high hopes for this and left very disappointed. Good luck to all those involved.

SMASH Previews Mar 20 2025, 11:24:56 PM
Saw this tonight. Oh boy! No denying the talent on that stage and if you're a fan of the TV series (I am!) then you are living for these songs and musical numbers where these actors make it their own but play homage to the originals and where Josh Bergasse recreates such memorable dance sequences on stage. So many throwing/flipping of women!!!! I could see why these lead actresses might need a break!
For me, this would have made a great off-Broadway show wit

BOOP! Previews Mar 12 2025, 02:22:18 PM
Same. If Grampa's love story and the political story are still not adding value to the plot; and if Faith Prince is still criminally underutilized then I really question what they fixed since Chicago. Sounds like a more flashy 2nd act opener and that's it. I am tempted to find the Chicago previews thread because a lot of the "very early" feedback sounds VERY similar to what many of us said during that OOT tryout.

21 years for me. Still wondering what one has to do to become a Broadway Legend :)

DEATH BECOMES HER Reviews Jan 31 2025, 03:40:02 PM
Is really tough to replicate the energy of this number through a screen. So much is the audience going absolutely crazy for all the bits. Speaking of, is she not "optioning up" during/after that line anymore - the snap is new for me but I haven't seen the show since Chicago.

DEATH BECOMES HER Reviews Jan 22 2025, 09:34:28 PM
To live in the universe where Sunset Blvd. was delayed by a few years and Nicole Scherzinger stayed on with Death Becomes. I have a feeling her Viola would have SERRRVVED all of the campiness I need.

Is that Tulsa in the back? Looks like Louise finally gets the guy at the end. :)

GYPSY Previews - most important question Dec 2 2024, 01:50:16 PM
The very subtle very impactful moment was at the end of the "big audition" (maybe during the transition out of the scene) where the young African American boy comes on to remove the light stand (clean up) and Rose looks right at him for maybe 3 seconds.

GYPSY Previews - most important question Dec 1 2024, 10:21:10 PM
That final sequence needs to give a sense of opulence (we have a huge budget now, we are playing THE BIGGEST house now) the Garden of Eden or Christmas Tree Fantasy (I've seen both on stage) can accomplish this by using lavish set pieces (trees, fake snow falling, a giant xmas trees, vines) and BIG costumes (head pieces, sequins, feathers). This version does not do this. Because the prior "mini strip" moments take pace on the passerelle and/or in front of t

GYPSY Previews - most important question Nov 30 2024, 02:35:05 PM
Saw this last night. I thought it was a pretty solid production with some very strong acting by Audra. My main quibble is with the choreography. If you are not going to use Robbin's GENIUS original choreography, then it needs to be MUCH BETTER, this was not. Maybe it was lost on me, but the classic and purposely overly simplistic "Extra Extra/Newsboys" number needs to be so memorable that it becomes comical and absurd that they keep trying to sell the sam

THE GREAT GATSBY Opening Night Critics’ Reviews Oct 30 2024, 04:44:17 PM
I wonder if this will impact sales - I went to it knowing many of the show's weaknesses but love the music and wanted to hear the recording LIVE. Though Tveit would get me back, fast!

yes! that is entirely brand new. In Chicago he was nowhere to be found in Act 2. Glad he has a proper exit (and a little song!).

One minor issue in Chicago was how abruptly the assistant disappears - have they worked out some explanation for this or is he now more present in Act 2?

Scherzinger in SUNSET BLVD. Previews Oct 19 2024, 10:21:01 AM
I saw this last night and my goodness what a thrill!!! As others have said, not everything works - the ensemble numbers are confusing without a set, not sure I would have understood them without being familiar with the original production - but such BOLD choices that largely pay off. Even though I knew these moments were coming, I found myself gasping when Tom Francis walks in from the street and through the house, and nearly wept during Nicole's wonderful As I We Never S
