Define "projections"

whenever a new show uses "projections," i can't tell if they are literally projecting a video onto part of the stage, like a movie theater projector, or just using a video screen as a background (like 9 to 5)
can somebody help me with this?

Look for shadows behind the performers and set pieces.
Also, projections tend to be brighter than video walls.

Posted: 3/16/10 at 1:44amUsually it refers to the set being comprised (to some extent) of projected images, whether static or moving. Often rear projection is employed, so no shadows either.

Posted: 3/16/10 at 11:42amIn the 1990's, both TOMMY and HOW TO SUCCEED... used video monitor walls, and the program still listed a credit for projection design". So it doesn't really matter if it's a video monitor or a projector, yuo can still refer to it as "projections".
