Wow! How many board members were there last night (APril 17th)?? I was also there in the front row and I heard NO prompters. Both Seldes and Lansbury seemed to have their lines down and were building up a good delivery rhythm for most of the performance. The play is paper thin, and the presentation of what ideas it has is pretty surfacy and obvious, but the two pros onstage made it worth sitting through, for the most part. They squeeze what humor is to be had from weak material. Actually, if truth be told, I think Seldes is somewhat miscast in what is, admittedly, the more underwritten of the two parts. Her arch and ironic delivery--so fantastic elsewhere--doesn't really work for this character, who sometimes comes off as a bit fakely nice. But even miscast, the Seldes timing is still there to behold. So, if you can get a discount ticket and tend to like Seldes and Lansbury, go see it, I say. As other posters have suggested, I think their performances will get stronger and stronger as they go through previews--and they are fine now (or at least they were on Tuesday the 17th).

No prompters? Thank goodness! Can't wait to see it again...

I heard the prompters loud and clear this afternoon. I'm in the process of posting my thoughts...

Yep. Understood. Thanks for clarifying.
