She did when I was there at the beginning of her run. People kept apologizing for keeping her out in the cold, but she said she had nothing better to do. She was really nice about it and stayed out for a long time.

I believe she's contracted through early May...date escapes me but I know that she goes straight from Hairspray to the Brooklyn tour. I think it was early May but don't quote me on it. :-P I may catch her in Hairspray next week when I get to NYC.

May 14 is her last Hairspray performance. She is scheduled do do a concert at Rialto Centre for the Performing Arts in Atlanta May 12 and of course miss Hairspray that day. She start Brooklyn tentetively scheduled to open in Minneapolis June 12 for the National Tour.I believe it is for 3 months.
As far as does she come to the stage door, yes but the crowds are getting to be a to big,they have 5 or 6 security staff outside.She ends up being out there about an hour.Kinda cool.

She had about two dozen members of her fan club waiting for her at the stage door last night and apparently had to keep telling her security something along the lines of "They are ok, I'm ok, leave us alone" because he was rushing her to get done with them. She's staying out a long time most nights in order to sign for everybody who wants and autograph so you'll almost certainly get to meet her.

I would go even if she wasn't doing the whole stage door thing just to see her perform. I saw her live during the Idol tour and thought she was amazing then and I can only imagine that she has gotten better. The fact that she is so dedicated to her fans at the stage door is just gravy. :)

She's absolutely fantastic. Her Penny is extremely funny, her acting and comedic timing is excellent and of course she sings the hell out of the songs. She's definately a stand-out

Brooklyn going National Tour Starts off Mineapolis I believe June 12 then heads to Hartford, Atlanta Dallas Etc.Diana is Brooklyn . Melba Moore plays her nemises.Go see Hairspray its something to see.Diana is also at the MCC MISCAST show March 13 at the Hammerstein Ballroom.Article listed somewhere in broadway world

I saw Hairspray last night and Degarmo was wonderful. I was worried since I really didn't think she was all that great on Idol, but she proved me wrong. Very funny & great timing. If she wasn't doing the Brooklyn tour, I'd say cast her as Penny in the movie version.

Overall, this was my first time seeing Hairspray and I have to say what a great show!!! John Pinette is amazing!! I was worried since they didn't have anyone famous in that role, but he was extremely funny. And Darlene Love - WOW!!! What a voice!!! This is such a great show. One of my favorites!

I saw a clip of Diana on the Insider (PM me) and it said Hairspray won 9 Tonys...did anyone catch that small mistake?

I wish there were more legal clips of her online, I'm curious as to how she sounds.

Obviously the news people dont do much research into Hairspray. In a Fox news clip about Diana they said that at 18 she's the perfect age to play the high school senior. They are sophomores, not seniors.

I'm pretty sure that Diana did audition for the movie, though I'm not sure how that scheduling would work out with the Brooklyn tour if she got the role

She did audition in early Feb stood in line for a long time like everyone else. She finishes Brooklyn in Sept and the movie has been delayed till Sept. So that makes her available but thousands auditioned. Your guess is as good as mine.???????

I was definitely pleasantly surprised with her. She performed wonderfully, and really let loose during You Can't Stop the Beat.

And she's great about signing.

Brooklyn National Tour Dates (Dated Feb15)

June 12 to 18 Ordway in St.Paul Minnesota
June 20 to 25 Bushnell Theatre Hartford
July 7 to 11 Fox in Atlanta
July 25 Aug 6 Music Hall in Dallas
This the only schedule so far and I'm told its correct. More dates are in the works
