Did Lennon play 8 performances in its final week?

Lennon closed on Saturday night rather than the usual Sunday matinee. Did they play 8 performances during the final week anyway?

yes. they didnt do sundays for the last 2 weeks of the run

And according to IBDB.com they only made it to 49 performances (with 42 previews).

Their schedule changed on September 12th, adding Monday night performances and removing Sunday afternoons.

Thanks for the clarification! I wonder why they did that -- I would expect that Sunday afternoons would sell better than Monday nights.

I remember reading that they hoped that Monday night would attract more people since less shows are open on that day.

it closed because it wasn't making money. the capacity was around 45-50% every week of the run. glad i was able to see the final performance.

And the reason that the capacity was low (and the show not making money) was that the show was rubbish.

Lennon had a fantastic, very talented cast. The music was wonderful and the show was good. Lennon closed because several critics panned the show and people stayed away based on the critics' reviews.
Now as to why the critics panned it? Hatred of Yoko Ono and John Lennon. A right wing administration involved in a war that doesn't want to
"Give Peace a Chance".

Yeah, Showbiz, I'm sure this is a huge "right wing administration" consipracy to keep Lennon off Broadway. That's the most incredulous thing that any of the Lennon fans have said. It would appear that delusional qualities are somewhat necessary to appreciate Lennon.

I agree with jczelyph. That's the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. Most theatregoers/critics are liberals anyway, so it makes even LESS sense.
