Did anyone every see some1's wig fall off during a show. I just think this has to happen from time to time...Isnt it like 95% of Broadway women wear wigs?
LOL, I can't wait to hear the responses. :)
I think it's more like 98.5% of them wear wigs.
I was doing a show in Indianapolis called 'Swing Swing Swing'. My dance partner and I were the featured dance couple. During a partnered cartwheel her wig got caught on the belt I was wearing, and it ripped the wig in two. One part was hanging from my belt and the other was still attached to her head. We laughed for days.
Well, I've had a wig fall off during a show.
I'm a dark brunette and this wig was plaitnum blonde.
I did a spilt, flipped my head back, and the acursed thing flew into the audience.
I still get teased about it.

From Susan Egan:
"CB: Can you share any funny or touching backstage stories from your experience with BatB?
SE: There are so many, I was in it for a long time. It was a lot of fun with the kids who would talk to you while you were on stage. But I think my favorite moment – but not in the moment it wasn’t – but retrospectively – it was definitely the day that Terry (Mann) pulled my wig off on stage. I ran off stage thinking I just sent 900 children into therapy. "

I remember it happening when I saw a performance of Zorba. I can't exactly remember what was supposed to happen, but a guy was supposed to rip the shawl from this ladies head. He grabbed it, pulled...and the wig came off with it. None of them broke character, and (well, I was young) I actually thought it was supposed to happen.
Hahah!
I don't know why but the thought of someone's wig flying off makes me giggle... far too much.

Mickey Rooney in Sugar Babies. The understudy knocked it off and Mickey yelled into the audience "Where is Ann Miller when you need her?"

Cliffarico - that's funny, because when I saw Sugar Babies with both Ms. Miller and Mr. Rooney, when they were doing the schoolroom skit, she turned around and pulled his wig off with her pointer and it just hung there like some dead thing. The audience roared, and it stopped the show for a minute. Hearing what you said, however, gives me the idea that the whole thing was staged anyway.

I heard Linda Eder's wig ALMOST fell off during a performance of J & H when it got caught on the bedpost.
There is a story about a ballet that was being peformed in an embassy or other & the ballerina got hoisted in the air & caught her wig on the chandalier.

There was a special on HBO in the late 80's or ealrly 90's called "The Women of Comedy" or something like that. It featured several comediennes and was filmed in front of a large audience. One of the bits was Andrea Martin doing a great impersonation of Cher. Well, her wig came off right near the beginning of the number, and she was totally unaware of it! She did the whole song in her nylon wig cap. Finally, as she was taking her bows, she noticed people gesturing. It made a funny routine even funnier.
Andrea Martin is hysterical.
Remember her Lorna Minnelli on SCTV?
She did "Ring Them Bells" and while singing a fly "flew in and flew right out again." She also did "New York, New York" and her wrist and hand flew off while doing that round motion with her arm.

Last Sunday at Hairspray when 'Tracy' is in detention and doing the little, 'Hello! my name is Tracy Turnblad' thing, Carly was shaking as hard as she could and the top piece of her wig (Which she puts on at the mirror after 'Ms. Baltimore Crabs'.) FLEW off! SHe skipped over to it, picked it up and goes in a quiet voice, "Just Kidding!" Plops he thing back on her head and wanders back toward Chester. It was pretty funny.
Also, in The Producers, one of the men trying out for Hitler in Springtime for Hitler did something, and his wig flew off so he shrieked like a woman, picked it up and did this high knee-ed run off stage.
I assume everyone's heard about the wig/flower problem that occured in everyone's favorite musical, with everyone's favorite blonde perfomer?
No I didn't. TELL!

shira467, do tell.
I think this sums it up:
"Like OMG!!, it was Kristin, and the flower wouldn't come out,and she stopped the show and it was the funniest thing ever because part of her wig came out and it was SO funny and Kristin rocks!"

When I went to the stage door of Millie I heard Delta Burke talking about the girl who plays Miss Dorothy lose her wig during a performance. It was during the time when Miss Dorothy and Millie's boss first meet.

darnit i was going to say that. yeah. angela's wig fell off during TMM. she wa great about it though. she tried to put it back on while doing the scene. it was really funny.
not a falling off wig but kinda close when i saw millie w/ the understudy, emily rozek throughout the bulk of act 2 her mic was slowly pulling itself upward under hte bangs of the wig until during gimme gimme it was completely horizontal from her head, i found it amusing
although i also found it hysterical on my way out overheard a woman say of harriet harris "what do you mean she's not asian...what are ya nuts?"
Angela Christiansen (sp?) was Miss Dorothy. In some cases, such as one of the "Hitler auditioners", the wig falling off might work.
