i went. highly entertaining. mary tyler moore has got to be 70% senile. bernadette looked increasingly annoyed as the event wore on. by the end, she had this forced grin on her face that was fantastic. kristin chenoweth got a HUGE cheer when she came on and bernadette looked visibly pissed. she kept looking kristin up and down. donna murphy looked pretty, audra was beautiful. the woman who plays liza in boy from oz was totally hyper and obnoxious. mario cantone made some funny bestiality references.
other than that... highlights included bernadette enthusiastically saying "and now... here's tonya pink-uss!" and best of all, mary tyler moore saying after a mutt had left the stage, "bernadette and i were just commenting, didn't that dog look exactly like vanessa williams?" audience was silent. and mary tyler moore continues, "it did! it did!"
yes, the dog was dark brown. yes, i am serious.

HAHAHAHA ROTFLMAO
I can't believe I missed that! For that quote alone, it would have almost been worth it for me to go!

Posted: 7/10/04 at 10:01pmI went! I was in the first row, right in front of the stage (thats what happens when you get there at 10 am!). Had to leave though at 6:15 so I didn't see Kristin. Interesting how Donna was too ill to perform at today's matinee but was able to make an appearance at the event. Bernadette looked stunning!! I agree that Mary Tyler Moore was WACKO! Oh and what was Mario Cantone's comment, he said something like "adopt this dog, he likes to lay out in backyards and deepthroat..." Craziness!

I was there for a little bit. It was a fun event. Is it me, or was Idina supposed to be there?
Anyway, I absolutely loved Bernadette's dress. She looked great.
Mario Cantone made some really funny cracks, as did Chenoweth and Mary Tyler Moore.
All the dogs were absolutely adorable, I wish I could've taken one home.

Posted: 7/10/04 at 10:44pmHow long was Cheno there for? Did she take any pictures and autographs? What wise cracks did she make?
#8re: Did any go to Broadway Barks?
Posted: 7/10/04 at 10:48pmOh my God, Mary Tyler Moore has lost her damn mind? How did that happen? LOL!

Cheno was there for about 15 minutes or so at the end, but I don't think she signed much because she had to head over to get ready for Wicked.
She made a joke about how they gave her the responsibility of bringing up a dog that weighed more than she did. Of all the people there, they gave Kristin the Great Dane. She pretended to get on its back like she was gonna ride on it, it was so big, lol. Other than that, I really remember what else she said...haha.

Posted: 7/10/04 at 11:31pmDammit - NBC 4 news just showed some clips, and mentioned Mary Tyler Moore and Bernadette, showed MTM, but when they said Bernadette's name showed a DOG and continued to show dogs, and never once did we see BP. MTM being a big TV star and all, she gets the air time. BP isn't famous enough for Ch. 4.

MTM is a whackjob. The comment about Vanessa Williams was just tip of the iceberg, I have a feeling. She seriously looked completely delusional. And it is ridiculous because she is only 67. My grandma, who is 82 and doped up on vicodin is more together. But then again, she hasn't had 23 facelifts.
I think she is dragging Bernadette down. Time to make new friends.

Posted: 7/10/04 at 11:40pmNot to stir the flames, but MTM DID get a note from Neil Simon himself recently to "learn her G.D. lines" in a recent production....she quit the show the next day.

Posted: 7/10/04 at 11:42pmAlright, that comment was slightly amusing... but I think you're being slightly harsh on Mary... age has nothing to do with it, we all know she's not exactly in tip top shape health wise.

Posted: 7/11/04 at 9:23amI completely agree with CJR. Mary has severe diabetes (which is not an easy disease with which to live). People with that disease go on a day-to-day as far as their health and how well they will function on a particular day. We are lucky that Mary is so dedicated to the future and well-being of these animals, and wants to make a difference in their lives as well as the lives of those who might adopt them. She might have made a couple of out-of-the-blue comments yesterday, but that's just Mary's humor. I saw nothing out of the oridinary. She and Bernadette do a great thing and I hope yesterday was a success for everyone involved.

Posted: 7/11/04 at 9:31amI was in the city for Fiddler, but we were running late and had to meet other people so I did not stop by. Then after the show, it was well past 5:30, it was all done. I did see a few remanants of BB. Walking down 44th a woman had a dog on a lease who had a "coat" on that said "Adopt Me". Poor baby.

Hi, It is for sale on eBay...I did lose some of Kristin as I had to change tapes, but she was on for quite a while. I cut Paige Davis as she went on forever, but the tape runs 67 minutes. The show went longer than previous years. This is the 4th year I have taped and sold the program. It may well have been the best. But no highs. Though Chenoweth was flying. Donna Murphy was subdued. I did not know she missed her show.
In previous years there was a lot of sappiness that was omitted this year. Mayor Mike sent an emissary with a long message late in the show that ye olde editor cut.
MTM probably has not changed much from this year from 4 years ago. I would call it ditziness more than anything. But she is getting old. As are we all.
The paparazzi were better behaved. They were last there 2 years ago. I sold a special Paparazzi edition then. There was some hero fireman with his dog in the press pen and all anyone wanted was a shot of George Hamilton and his ex? misses. Embarrrassing.
