Who were the judges? Who performed? Who won? Did anyone go to the Tony Tickets Singing Competition thing? If so, post about it here!

And the other thing about the Phantom Lady was, Bert, she realized, in the city that never sleeps... What did she realize, Kitten? That all the songs she'd listened to, all the love songs, that they were only songs. What's wrong with that? Nothing, if you don't believe in them. But she did, you see. She believed in enchanted evenings, and she believed that a small cloud passed overhead and cried down on a flower bed, and she even believed there was breakfast to be had... Where? On Pluto. The mysterious, icy wastes of Pluto.

I sang in the contest today and was awarded "First Runner Up." While I will not be attending the actual Tony Award ceremony, I will be attending the final dress rehearsal for the Tony's. Yeah!!! It was a lot of fun, and there were lots of great singers.

I didn't go, but CCBB cast members did perform.

The judges were from four different Broadway shows, including 'Beauty and the Beast,' 'Rent,' 'Avenue Q,' and 'Chitty Chitty Bang Bang.' Yes, there were three performances during the contest; Beauty and the Beast, Chitty, and All Shook Up. It was a fun afternoon.

Were the leads of any shows there? I guess depending on waht number the did for CCBB depends on who was there..but did you recognize the judges? Like who were the Rent and Q judges?
I soo wanted to go to this! lol

I believe that the CCBB performers were the understudies for Truly Scruptious, Jeremy, and Jemima and From BATB it was Brooke Tansley. From Avenue Q, it was Jennifer Barnhart, and I don't remember the name of the singer from Rent... it's whoever is singing Mimi right now.

Thank you for the congrats! I sang 'Some Enchanted Evening.' They gave all contestants a choice of eight songs from the Tony Awards Song Book, and Some Enchanted Evening was one choice. They gave everyone 45 seconds to sing a portion of the song a capella.

There were quite a few. I would guess probably about 140 or 150 people. The contest lasted for 2 hours... 45 seconds for each singer... so yeah, probably about that number.

Yes, James was very good.

And I hate to be so mean in saying that there were so many competitors who had better voices than Brooke Tansley. I was actually shocked that someone of Broadway calabre had that voice.

"Do you know what pledge time is, Andrew"? said the PBS Executive. "Yes", Lloyd Webber replied. "My 50th birthday special must be one program that gets done a lot." "No", mused the man from PBS heedlessy. "Not so much. Our Stephen Sondheim Carnegie Hall concert. That's a big one." Spoons, forks and knives seemed suddenly to suspend their motion in horror, all around the table.

It's amazing the out of work (or should I say undiscovered) talent there is everywhere..esp NYC!!

I'm sure if I got to do this contest I would have been extremely humbled!

Hey James C! I was there too today, and even though the line was long and the perfume started to make my head spin, it was a pretty fun afternoon all around. Although, if I hear Caberet one more time, I may have to arrange a meeting between my head and my desk.

You may remember me, actually, if you were there. I was in all lime green, (My tribute to The Frogs, perhaps?) and one of the only contestants under 20 years of age.

I only wish there was a larger selection of songs to choose from. By the time I got up to sing "What I Did For Love", I was sick of the song myself!

And James - you were great. Truly one of my favorites of the day. (Better than the CCBB cast! But you didn't hear me say that.)

The 8 songs were:
Sunrise, Sunset
All I Ask of You
The Sound of Music
Cabaret
What I Did For Love
Some Enchanted Evening
Lullaby for Broadway
and Hello, Dolly.

Thank you, you're very kind! Yes, I do remember you. You did an excellent job. Perhaps I will be lucky and this award will lead to other opportunities.

I do have one singing opportunity coming up on June 1st at the New York Comedy Club at 9 p.m. I have been asked to sing a few songs. Maybe I can persuade some BroadwayWorld.com fans to come out for one of its own. I could sure use the support.

I give congratulations to you and everyone who got up on that stage today to sing. That's not an easy task. Kudos to all!

I personally thought the best part of the whole day was being able to sing up there in front of people like Jennifer Barnheart, when just last week I was at Avenue Q and she was performing for me. That was really quite the rush.

Of course we'll all come out and support you! I'll even make annoying posters! Just kidding, but I will try and make it. What are you singing?

Anyone notice that anytime Jennifer Barnhart moved her head, so did Mrs. T.??? She has been working with the puppets too long.
