Differences between the Doubt movie and play

I did a search for this and found nothing, so sorry if this was already discussed.
After reading another thread, I was curious as to how the play and movie differed. I have never seen the play, and haven't seen the movie yet either, but plan too. I'm interested to know how the two differ so I can do a sort of mental ven diagram when I get to see it. Instead of posting on the other thread, spoilers probably can't be avoided here (which is fine for me). So, read responses at your own discretion.
What are the major differences between the movie and play?

The most obvious one is the addition of the children to the story which really does seem to skew the balance a bit, IMO. You get to see Father Flynn interacting with Donald Miller and the other boys versus hearing it from other people's mouths as you do in the play.
Also, the role of Sister James seems to have been expanded a bit. You see her actually teach and how her teaching persona is altered by Sister Aloysious suspicions and remarks.
There are tiny bits that were added to, like letting the audience see the Mother Superior interact with the other nuns (like Sister Veronica which adds some softness to the role).

Hi everyone. I'm a long time reader on these boards, but this is my first post. I came away from the Doubt film with a question and figured the people here would be best equipped to answer.
***POSSIBLE SPOILER***
In the film, when Sister Aloysius and Mrs. Miller are walking, Mrs. Miller refers to her son’s “nature”. I remember this scene in the play, with the mother understanding what might be going on with the priest and not wanting to get involved, but I don’t remember her clearly expressing that her son was likely homosexual and that was why his father beat him. Did I totally miss something when I saw the play, or did they add this part to the movie. The person with whom I saw the play and the movie did not remember this either.
***END SPOILER***
Thanks in advance!

The scene between Mrs. Miller and Aloysius is near-verbatim from the play.
A significant addition is Sister James seeing Father Flynn put Donald's shirt in his locker.
