I always love to look at pictures of different theatres in NYC and around the nation, I know that each and everyone has a theatre somewhere nearby where you go and see all of the touring productions. Each one of these theatres probably has a website, and a picture or two, if so post it!!! Also, do you think that the theatre is adequate for the productions that come through? Give your thoughts, as well as pictures of and on your theatre!!!

To Broadway Theater 11
Correct me if I am wrong but I think the bottom theater in your post ( in color with the ship on it) is the old Loew's Akron in Akron Ohio
Your top post are the 2 theaters in Clevelands Playhouse Square. The Loews State & the other name escapes me right now. Old age is setting in but I was in all 3 of these theaters.

We have the Gammage Theater here in Tempe, Arizona. It's big, but that's about all I can say for it. It's nice architecturally on the outside (it was one of the last designs of Frank Lloyd Wright" but the inside looks very high school auditoriumish. . The accoustics are amazing though! The one thing to definately avoid is the dreaded 3rd balcony where you feel like if you lean forward you will land on people several floors below!

Posted: 6/28/03 at 8:58pmMany of the old theaters 3 rd balcony was used specifically for blacks as they could not sit anywhere else in the theater & had a special entrance for them as well.

We have the Memorial Auditorium here in Raleigh, North Carolina. I've seen the tours of Smokey Joe's Cafe, The Secret Garden, Fosse, Swing!, Aida, and Contact performed at this place. I think it's a great theater to see shows in.

I'm actually in California, but I mentioned the Fox in St. Louis just becuase it's my favorite that I've seen. The Orpheum in San Francisco is also quite attractive.
Ugliest theatre I've seen a show in is probably the Community Center Theatre in Sacramento. Outside is nice and office park-like. Inside is VERY dated '70s.
Wannabe award goes to the San Jose Center for the Performing Arts because it's a wannabe Frank Lloyd Wright. The sound is awful and the rear of the orchestra section resembles an adobe wall.
Points for trying goes to the Capitol Theatre in Salt Lake City. Opulent and overdone. Annoying ramps to get to the upper boxes. Nice sound, though.
Too big but sounds amazing: Aladdin Theatre in Las Vegas. (Though I guess it'll be the Planet Hollywood Theatre now, or something.)

Here in Rochester, NY we have the Auditorium Theatre. It looks like a jail from the outside, but is pretty nice inside.
