Sherie Rene Scott was out, her understudy was GREAT! Aside from the fact that I predicted the end half way into act one, it was really enjoyable. No window cards yet btw. The music was great, the audience left humming the tunes. Norbert was really the standout of the cast, but they were all great. The story was a little weak in places (the Muriel/Andre plot doesn't fit in). At the stage door, John and Norbert were thrilled to sign autographs. Updated On: 2/23/05 at 06:53 PM

"It was as predictable as the Yankees winning the world series"
So it wasn't that predictable? That's good to know.
This show is soon to be the new musical love of my life.

I must add: give Norbert the TONY AWARD just for his Rupricht number.
YES! RUPRECHT!
LOL - I LOVED Ruprecht. But why wait until that number? Norbert had me with "Great Big Stuff"!
I will be inexplicably happy if they perform Ruprecht at the Tonys. Great Big Stuff was my favourite Norbert song, too, though. The posse line... gah.
What's the exact line? "My god, it turns!" ?
Something about... having a posse. I can't remember. The lyrics in that song are fabulous.
'Get me a posse, aiight?'
Formerly: 'Get me a posse and ****, aiight?"
Oh how fun, BWW censors my 'naughty' word, even though it was a lyric. Awesome.
And to answer the 'turning' question..... it's just "oh my god the whole thing turns"

They took out the "and sh*t?!?!?!?!"
*pouts*
Well, they did because later in the song he says "I want some really classy s--t"

oh, also! Norbert said that Sherie was out b/c she has a mild cold and can't talk. just in case anyone was wondering, she'll be back tomorrow or friday.

Thanks! I still can't believe Alan Cumming has his own cologne (does anyone know if it smells...naughty? ). Now if only he'd do that proposed one-man show of his, "Cumming on Cumming."
I visited your fine city last week, and I'm so glad I had the chance to catch DRS (though I'm still kicking myself for not having gotten tickets to SPELLING BEE). I found the revolving stage mesmerizing (that circle-within-a-circle was hypnotic), and I loved the metatheatrical digs ("I think I have something important to do in the second act"). I was a bit disappointed by Jerry Mitchell's choreography, but it's not really a show that calls for dancing. The opening number definitely needs work too -- it's quite obviously awkward. But the cast really can't be beat, and the blue of the production design is just heavenly.
Norbert had me at hello!!!!!
I <3 THE RUPRECHT NUMBER!
I can't decide if I'm most in love with Norbert, the show as a whole, or David Yazbek...

folks, this sucks the big one. I'm in australia and am such a huge fan of the movie. I would kill to hear one song from the show.....stop rubbing it in.
Saw the show again last night for the second time. SO good. Just SO good.

All of them. SO in love.
Norbert had me the SECOND he walked out on stage. I can't get over him. *grins foolishly*

I saw DRS last night, I also the understudy was very good. I definitely liked Sherie, but it was great seeing someone different, she gave a whole new spin to the role.
It was also interesting to see what they've changed, added, and cut since since the beginning of previews - so far they've shaved off about 20 minutes.
Aside from the top of Act Two, where they cut my favorite bit in the show, I didn't notice any glaring changes, though. It flows pretty nicely.

Yeah, I liked Lithgow's 2nd entrance at the top of act 2, I wish they wouldn't have cut it. Is that what you're talking about?
Yep. I liked the extra repitition.
Still loving "Great Big Stuff", though. Norbert's hard not to watch :)
