Well, they are not going to give away all 50,000 on April 27th. They will be giving away the majority of these CDs to the audiences from 04/27 - 05/31.

Well, lets say they are sold-out from 04/27 - 05/31
and they give 1 cd for every 2 seats.
40 shows x 718 cds per show = 28720 cds :)

Can I just say -

This is the BEST marketing a show could do.

Cost of 1 CD? About 30 cents. Cost of free advertising like that? Priceless. They must be on some kind of suspension of royalty agreement, but the business this will generate at the box office is unreal - people will lend the CD to their friends, etc, etc.

Let's hope this starts a trend.

I'm really skeptical about the phrase "special limited edition".
I have a hunch this will be a sampler CD in the same vein as "The Scarlet Pimpernal" CD that was put in for free with the New York Times and only had 3 cuts on it. My feelings are that no record company would want to cut into their sales by letting out 50,000 free copies. Guess time will tell on this one.

I'm not complaining either way. I'm just excited to have some of the music. I was planning to buy it, so if its all the music its just a bonus. It says in the article they will be giving these out at shows through May.
I stand corrected, you are as vapid as they say.

Well, Sh-K-Boom did give away all those Bare (full length) CDs. If you buy it on their website, don't you only have to pay for shipping?

And even if it is just a sampler, it'll still be fun to get it for free, and have it signed, etc. My guess is that it may be the full CD, but only in a cheapie sleeve, w/o all the artwork, etc (which would still entice people to buy the real CD). Guess we'll find out on Wednesday!
But when did New Hampshire become--Such a backward wasteland of seatbelt hating crazies?...I mean, only 40 people actually live there. The others are just visitors who come for the tax-free liquor and three inches of novelty coastline. John Hodgeman on The Daily Show (1-30-07)

This is an awesome PR campaign. I will be there.
"Goodness is rewarded. Hope is guaranteed. Laughter builds strong bones. Right will intercede. Things you've said I often find I need, indeed. I see the world through your eyes. What's black and white is colorized. The knowledge you most dearly prized I'm eager to employ. You said that life has infinite joys."

Can we say "Yay" for no classes on Wednesdays?

YAY!

Norbert Leo Butz quotes about John Lithgow: "He's really clumsy. One of the joys in life is to watch a great big huge man totally wipe out backstage. It takes John about three minutes to hit the floor. It's like watching a Great Sequoia falling gracelessly."
