Disney Entertainment compared to Theatre

I have no idea what you're talking about. But yes, if you can, try to get a job in The Lion King or Beauty and the Beast. Stay away from Tarzan unless you're in really good shape.

In my opinion there are two disney movies that are perfect examples of how to do a Broadway play. Those two would be Little Mermaid and Beauty & the Beast. The two have the Broadway formula that Rodgers & Hammerstein and Lerner & Lowe propperly used for all those years. These in my opinion are perhaps even better than most of the other projects that debuted on Broadway in the 1980s/1990s.

Most all the other projects are entertainment however. Not to say that they aren't good at what they set out to do, but Little Mermaid & B&B cross the line into genuine pieces of theatre, where as almost all the others do not.

I don't get what you're saying. Most stage productions are theatrical, I mean- it's theatre. However, with the exception of Mary Poppins, Disney musicals aren't especially good. (Mary Poppins has a great score and book, unlike the others.)

The original poster is asking about shows at Disney World (not The Lion King on Broadway) as opposed to "real theater." I think some of you are misinterpreting the term "theatrical" in asking whether or not said productions are theatrical; something can be theatrical and boring. Theatricality isn't measured in how exciting something is, but is rather much more difficult to pin down that way, in terms of having traits of theatre. It seems that the poster is getting at asking for opinions on the integrity of said productions -- as well as whether something like this is a good place to begin acting.

Oh, you mean the Disneyland and Disneyworld shows!

In that case, I find them entertaining. I mean, they're theme park shows. You don't go to theme park shows to hear new and original scores. You go for the technology and entertainment value.

The Disneyworld shows are abysmal. Anne Hamburger should be crucified- Finding Nemo : The Musical, we all remember the great songs in Finding Nemo, right ? Everything is a ripoff of something that was actually good. Right now there's a trampoline show at Animal Kingdom that should be at some used car lot grand opening. The days of broadway quality, if there ever was such a thing at DWorld, are over. Next up, the Pirates of the Caribbean, extreme motocross operetta starring Ralph Macchio.

hey a liked the aladdin musical, lol. well actually, i only really like the flying carpet scene. last time i went the carpet was not working and i was very upset, lol. Fantasmic is fun but it needs to be updated.

I hate to be cruel but Tarzan is basically Disney Entertainment. I would see it but only for half price. It looks like a theme park show. That's what Beauty and the Beast and The Lion King avoided. It's kind of sad.
