Disney's hubris knows no bounds.
I have a feeling that will not be the title used at the Tonys or anything. Every production has "_______ presents". I doubt that anyone will be calling the show Disney Presents Tarzan other than in print (if it is required by copyright). And it is possible that there maybe some sort of copyright that will not allow Disney to use Tarzan as the title again. Who knows?
What's the question? It's a very simple marketing and advertising concept meant to include the familiar name and reputation of the company that is presenting the piece so that you will KNOW it's 'good wholesome' family entertainment, etc.
Done all the time in theater and in other 'products' sold on the public market. Next question?
SamIAm is correct. It's not a question of ego or hubris. The Disney name means something to consumers. "Tarzan" could be anyone's Tarzan, but the Disney name attached to it will mean something to audiences, and particularly, families. To a different target audience, it's the reason why the official title of "The Producers" is "The Producers, The New Mel Brooks Musical".
