Boy, if a studio had an ego, this would be the biggest one out there. It isn't even "Disney's Tarzan", but "Disney Presents Tarzan."

people will call it "Tarzan" anyway...
wasnt AIDA really titled "Elton John & Tim Rice's AIDA"
It's always Disney's or Disney Presents....
Just like Aladdin isn't on DVD, it's on Disney DVD....
I just wish that they would do The Little Mermaid first.
It's been "Disney's B&B"...."Disney's LK"
So what's the problem?
It isn't even "Disney's Tarzan" which is fine IMO. But the official title is "Disney Presents Tarzan." Pompous. My opinion. I'm entitled. No problem.
It does seem a little out of the ordinary...but like it was said..people will call it "Tarzan" anyway.
And the Tony goes to Matt Morrison for his portrayal of Disney Present's Tarzan.
They're funding the production. They can call it The Great Disney Corporation Present Tarzan if they wan't to.
Roles off the tongue, doesn't it.
c'est la vie
yeah thats weird if there was a performance somewhere.. i'll just say the Today show for instance.. they would say " and now presenting, Disney presents Tarzan" how weird.. everyone already knows Tarzan is disney.. i dont see the need for that title.. but whatever.. it will just be referred to as Tarzan like stated before
Wow. You guys are thinking way too much about this.

Or, The Walt Disney Company presents a new Disney Theatrical Production: TARZAN on Broadway with music by Phil Collins.
itd still be called "Tarzan"
MONTY PYTHON'S SPAMALOT
ELTON JOHN & TIM RICE'S AIDA
It's all about using the corporate name familar with the public to sell the show.
TARZAN could have been a new musical based on the novel. But it's "Disney Presents Tarzan" so now people know its a Disney musical. They're selling their name.
I'm very excited about this!
AIDA didn't have a Disney attachment at the top.
LOL. I can't believe this is even an issue.
It just sounds weird. If it were to win a Tony, the poor presenter will have to say, "And the Tony goes to, ...Matt Morrison, in Disney Presents Tarzan"
Oh boo-hoo big deal. Again, why is this even an issue.....
I have no problem calling it Disney presents Tarzan... what's the big deal?
I saw a commercial yesterday for Radio Disney's CD from Disney Records of the Disney's favorite artists (actors from Disney Channel shows) singing songs from Disney movies.
Now, I saw The Little Mermaid when I was 4 years old and I've been Disney's b*tch ever since, but they are getting a bit big for their britches, especially since they haven't been able to come out with a decent, non-Pixar animated movie for years. Is the musical of Tarzan going to include the story from the new straight-to-Disney DVD release "Tarzan 2" (which actually takes place before Tarzan 1, but that's a whole separate issue)? Probably not, but hey, let's rape the classics to make a few extra bucks.
Elton John and Tim Rice were probably included to distinguish it from Verdi's Aida. Besides, it's one thing when it's the composers' names before the show, but when it's the coporate sponsors it's a bit tacky. Look at where sports has gone, the Capital One Bowl, the Tostitos Salsa Bowl...

It wasn't "Disney's AIDA" because it wasn't a Disney movie. When they set out to do AIDA, Disney formed Hyperion Theatricals which even though technically was one in the same, it wasn't.
I don't even think it said Disney as a producer, only Hyperion but when Heather Headley won the Tony, I remember her saying in her speech, "Disney, I'll work for you anytime."

i will have to agree with Ann_Margrock... why is this an issue?
Yes, Someone had to tell me Aida was Disney as I had no idea.
This is a message board, I started a topic. If you don't think it is an issue, then don't post here. It's a really simple concept. What may be an issue for me, is obviously not for others. If you have nothing to add, move on - there is nothing to see here for you.
