I think that this movie is quite an emotionally compelling and potentially comedic story that sings. It's actually based on a book, something that many people don't know, and I think it would be an excellent Broadway adaptation with original songs replacing those from the movie. What do you think? Is it a worthy Broadway show?

is it compelling though?
And it is definitely not a runaway hit property like High School Musical was.
