Curious if any of my Board friends here saw this and what they thought. We saw it and did not like it, to say the least. Any of you sweet folks see this? thanks. :)

Hi IWISHIHADATONY. I did not see the show but I recently picked up the CD. I was so disappointed. They took the theatrical out of the songs and made it sound loud 'broadway style'. It changes the emotional impact of songs so much. In the long run the CD sounds schizophrenic and recycled. I can't imagine the show being much better.

I'm going on Sunday... should be an interesting experience. I love Disney though, so even if the show itself is bad, I'll like the music.

I found it to be two hours of pure torture and that was even with Emily Skinner!!!

I happened to enjoy it because I expected nothing more than what it was...a revue. When you look at it as "Ok, I'm going to hear and see good looking people sing Disney music." You get what you expect.

THANK YOU, Princeton78!

People go expecting an extravagent production...it isn't. You need to go and just have a fun time. There is a lot of talent involved with the show.

It will be in Denver July 19-31st. The last stop for the show. I will go if I get my comps. But since Disney didn't do comps when Lion King was here, I doubt they will do them for On The Record. They didn't even offer employee comps after the staff worked their butts off for the Lion King. ...Record is part of our new season.

thanks for your feedback sweet people!!! I was very disappointed in the show and simply hope they make it better and more entertaining for the future. Lots of folks left at intermission the other night and the applause was tepid, at best
re: Disney's On The Record-Seen It? Lots of surprised words from people leaving, very disappointed. I have never had a Disney experience like this before. I was very, very surprised. re: Disney's On The Record-Seen It?

I was supposed to see it when it was in Boston, but I wrote down the wrong dates...

I did get the CD, and can't help but think how great it would be at one of the theme songs. Then I realized that Disney actually thought it could hit Broadway, and I laughed. Not knocking the performers (Ashley Brown and Kaitlin Hopkins especially), but just by listening to it you can see its definately not Broadway material. I'd love to see it open in Disney, tho, it's got great potential there.

I saw it yesterday and found it be definitely lacking something. They tried to create some sort of an underlying story, but should have just left it as a revue. Regardless, it does not belong on Broadway... I agree that it would be a hit at the theme park. Ashley Brown, on the other hand, definitely belongs on Broadway- she is incredible!

No, I haven't seen it and I won't be either. When this was announced I was really excited for the project. After reading reviews and listening to the CD, Disney has gone and produced a clunker. I would have loved to have seen more of a Concert format with full orchestra (ala Music of ALW or even "The Music of the Night" tour). they could've gotten some of the original movie voices and some fresh Broadway types to just get up there and sing these songs. some minimal choreography and even some new arrangements, but what they put together is an expanded theme park show. Well - I'm sure this will be hitting High Schools and community theatres across the country in the next few years. Maybe someone will restage it with some heart and really focus on the songs.

I completely agree it should not be on Broadway, but it is a fun show. Corny, but fun.

Saw it in DC after buying a ticket only to see Emily, who left the show before the DC run started (not that I blame her). It was better than sitting home on a Friday night, but it was certainly not worth my $85. The cast was talented, but the show was extremely cheesy in terms of choreography and premise. I did like some of the new arrangements though.

I did however (whisper) get more joy out of "Be Our Guest" in multiple languages than I probably should have.

Must be all the cheeses put together...I saw a clip from broadwayacrossamerica.com, and it did look like what I said it was...pure cheese. But, hey? This is what to expect ou tof Disney, right?

It started out here in P.A. and people here seemed to like it but from what I've heard you say... its just mindless revuless drivel.

The show in general was not so great, but I only payed 15$ so It was worth it for me... I was really impressed with Ashley Brown, in fact I think I would pay another 15 bucks to hear her again. I was disappointed in the cast recording though, they failed to make Miss Brown sound as amazing as she was live.(She ended up being all I really cared about)

I saw this show at the Broward Center for the Performing Arts. Honestly, the actors and actresses were wonderful but the actual singing and dancing didn't do anything for me. And for some reason, what really pissed me off was those huge stupid microphone things that they wind up and down. To me, it just seemed like a prop that was used for nothing. I don't know, I guess I just felt almost like I was watching those kids movies again. I don't think I was feeling it like most other musicals...and for this show we had box seats but we moved down to the 6th row orchestra b/c there were empty seats, in fact, there were lots of empty seats. The balcony had nobody in it at all.
