re: Disney's next big project

In current configuration, the New Amsterdam has 1,801 seats, making it Broadway's third LARGEST theatre, just behind the Gershwin (1,809) and the Hilton (1,807).

As far as darkness in Disney material, don't forget that three characters die within the first five minutes of Tarzan. (Sure to terrify the young'uns, in the grand Disney tradition!)

NO!!! Lion King belongs in the New Amsterdam, so shut your mouth! I'll choose not to believe you.

It may not be "definite," but they are already discussing the difficult load-in situation at the Minksoff because they can not make any noise that will interfere with the new concert venue (the Nokia) that is in the basement where the movie theatre used to be.
Also under discussion is either bringing in a road set or building a new one so that the show can close at the New Amsterdam on a Sunday and re-open at the Minskoff the following Wednesday.

Hm...a scaled down version in a smaller theater? worked for B&tB. Well, i don't think the overall "Look" or "feel" of Tarzan is going to be dark, whereas Huntchback is pretty dark. I mean ppl die in Lion King, but the overall feel of the show is very light and fun. Disney isn't usually too hardcore as far as the drama or the actual dialogue of the show is concerned.
