Hi everyone! So I'm interested in making a compilation for my fansite, featuring Disney songs (as many as possible) that have been covered by musical theatre artists (both Broadway and West End, but I'd rather not make two topics). I'm not counting original artists to the songs (such as Idina Menzel singing Let It Go, Sierra Boggess singing Part of Your World or Susan Egan singing I Won't Say I'm In Love.)
So far I've got: (replacements for the songs are welcome, as I don't like to repeat artists)
List edited to add suggested songs:
- When She Loved Me (Toy Story) by Laura Osnes - A Dream is a Wish Your Heart Makes (Cinderella) by Sierra Boggess - A Whole New World (Aladdin) by Laura Osnes and Nathan Johnson - I See the Light (Tangled) by Hadley Fraser and Louise Dearman - Let It Go (Frozen) by Jeremy Jordan - Colors of the Wind (Pocahontas) by Lea Salonga - God Help the Outcasts (The Hunchback of Notre Dame) by Bette Midler - Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Wolf? (Three Little Pigs) by Barbra Streisand - A Spoonful of Sugar (Mary Poppins) by Harry Connick, Jr. - Just Around the Riverbend (Pocahontas) by Christiane Noll - Out There (The Hunchback of Notre Dame) by Jason Danieley - Go the Distance (Hercules) by Norm Lewis - Proud of Your Boy (Aladdin) by Darren Criss - You'll Be In My Heart (Tarzan) by Michael Crawford - If I Never Knew You (Pocahontas) by Michael Crawford and Sherie Rene Scott - When Will My Life Begin? (Tangled) by Arielle Jacobs - When You Wish Upon a Star (Pinocchio) by Barbara Cook - Can You Feel the Love Tonight? (The Lion King) by Michael Ball
Neither has been on the musical theater stage for a while, but Barbra Streisand recorded "Who's Afraid of the Big Bad Woolf" back in the day, and Bette Midler did a lovely "A Dream Is a Wish Your Heart Makes."
And Harry Connick Jr. (he counts, right?) did "A Spoonful of Sugar" and "Stay Awake."
Jarrod Spector covered "When You Wish Upon A Star" on his recent 54 Below album
Are you just looking for songs that have been profesionally recorded or are you looking to rip live performances from YouTube too? I saw you had Jeremy's "Let It Go" but just wanted to make sure.
"I believe Kerry Butler is a huge Disney fan, and has recorded several songs."
Her recordings of "Baby Mine" and "When She Loved Me" are possibly my favorite versions of those songs.
When I see the phrase "the ____ estate", I imagine a vast mansion in the country full of monocled men and high-collared women receiving letters about productions across the country and doing spit-takes at whatever they contain.

I remember liking Vanessa Hudgens' Colors of the Wind.
As has been said, Kerry Butler has recorded several Disney songs. The only album of hers I have is Faith, Trust and Pixie Dust and most of the album is songs from Disney films, among them: When You Wish Upon a Star, Colors of the Wind, The Second Star to the Right, When She Loved Me and a medley of It's a Small World and God Help the Outcasts. Also included was Disneyland from Smile.
"Contentment, it seems, simply happens. It appears accompanied by no bravos and no tears."
Michael Ball has recorded the following Disney songs: some can be found on his solo albums, other on his concert dvds and some are tv performances
- Can You Feel the Love Tonight (Lion King)
- Circle of Life (Lion King)
- As Long as There's Christmas (duet with Elaine Paige) (Beauty and the Beast: Enchanted Christmas)
- Baby Mine (Dumbo)
- When She Loved Me (Toy Story 2)
- Bare Necessities (Jungle Book)
- When You Wish Upon a Star (Pinocchio)
He's also done a version of "I've Got No Strings" from Pinocchio, but it's very different from the original as he used it in his one man show at the Donmar in 2001. You can watch it here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mUso1ycL2TY
Check out the album (it first came out in the 1980's, I think) STAY AWAKE. Tom Waits sings "Heigh-Ho Heigh Ho," Bonnie Rait sings "Baby Mine." A lot of interesting takes on Disney music.
