Affection doesn't excuse irresponsibility. I'm sure many of the false deaths we've seen were spread by sincere people. I don't doubt Radford's sincerity.
The theatre must be getting bombarded with phone calls. I just saw someone else post that he'd called the theatre. When he asked if she had passed, he was put on hold and transferred to another person who said, "We don't have official word just yet."
Either way, true or not, it does make you think of life. I mean, before today, when was the last time you thought about her? I know it's been years since I remembered watching designing women.

i realize that but there was also a visit to a box office as well where there was confirmation given. also, i hardly think Perez Hilton's lies and twitter false reports and this are the same. it's just my opinion.
TheatreDiva..i posted that from JG for the youtube link and to show another post. sorry if that was out of line. I didn't realize it was already here too.
Marquise
agreed. nice to have firm confirmation by people who i feel wanted to help to confirm it, not to prove that it was false.
So sad to hear this. I just finished watching Designing Woman 3rd season on DVD the other day.
Piper: go back and examine the information in the actual chronology that took place here. This thread was NOT began with confirmation from the box office or a phone call to the PAC.
Additionally, I am not referring to only Perez Hilton's false reports. False reports have come from various places. If you really think BWW's message boards are a safe place to gain credible news, you are in for many a surprise.
"I keep checking CNN. is the town you live in reporting it on local news at all?"
Neither WBBJ (local TV news station), the Jackson Sun (newspaper), nor any of the TV stations out of Memphis have this on their websites or twitters. It's Saturday, so Huntingdon's local news paper wouldn't be running.

The Insider confirms. Try searching on Google and changing the options to "latest".
Considering that story was just posted 14 minutes ago, it would not have shown up when I Googled.
It is truly sad news. She was a graceful, elegant woman and her performance in Masterclass was itself a masterclass in brilliant acting. Let alone Designing Women and other performances.
And for the record, I repeat, if this thread had begun with the doubt in the thread title or at least the phone call to the PAC, I would not have taken issue. We need to be responsible for the sake of respecting those directly affected by such news.
Can you drop it now, Jerby?

This is the last I'll comment on this thread. If I had "doubts", I wouldn't have ever posted in the first place. You have to understand... this is a small town, we KNOW each other. I had heard this from several people, some of who were very close to Dixie.
The only reason that I later went ahead and bothered the good people at The Dixie, where I have worked many hours, on stage and off, was because I was getting lambasted on this board. I did not post this to receive some kind of credit or praise. I posted this simply because I know many people on this board love this woman. I felt you had the right to know.
Now, that I've been vindicated (I think), may we please move on to the proper action of mourning the loss of this great actress.

Terriffic Actress.
She was married to George Hearn, right?
I didn't know that; just knew about Hal Holbrook.
She was a great talent. She gave much joy, and she will be missed.
Wow, that is sad news....my thoughts and prayers to her family, friends and fans.
Very sad. I met her once after a performance of Chicago and she was lovely and gracious. My thoughts are with Hal Holbrook and their families.
"Additionally, I am not referring to only Perez Hilton's false reports. False reports have come from various places. If you really think BWW's message boards are a safe place to gain credible news, you are in for many a surprise."
nor was I just referring to just PH and I made my decision on the information not on just a one sentence report. see Radfords last post. please DO NOT be partonizing. I won't be in for many a surprise, I promise. and Theatre Diva, sorry it is dropped now.
as said, i thanked those for calling and confirming but think they did so out of helping not trying to prove someone wrong.
I posted this on the thread on the OT board. She was, let us not forget, also a wonderful singer. Let us not forget it, because she took such tremendous joy out of singing.

"because she took such tremendous joy out of singing"
'From' singing?
I think she was a wonderful actress. I saw both Zoe Caldwell and Patti in Master Class and Dixie Carter was the first actress who pulled off the long monologues at the end of each act. She was extrodinary.
Having said that, to respond to Pal Joeys comment about her singing, whenever she sang on Designing Women I turned the channel. She was also the first singer with the Baltimore Symphony who, after the concert, the management of the symphony offered a full refund to anyone who asked.
I feel so sorry for Mr. Holbrook. They obviously had a very loving relationship.
RIP Julia Sugarbaker.
To the last of the "big shouldered broads"....
R.I.P. Dixie Carter

I am not that familiar with a lot of Carter's work (having only seen her as crazy mama Hodge on Desperate Housewives), but from what I did see, she was a fantastic actress with a lot of experience to her credit.
May she R.I.P.
