Radford, thanks for passing on what info you have, and for the title change.
Let's hope it undergoes another, more positive, revision.
Yes, and let's hope gas is what she passed!
Well, I just got off the phone with the PAC and the operator told me that she did pass away this morning.
I asked why none of the news agencies hadn't picked it up and she said, "I don't know how those things work."
^Thanks TheatreDiva
i think if Radford went to that kind of trouble and went up to the box office it had to be true as well. perhaps an official statement has to be put out by family first? this is big news as far as i am concerned.
no need for the question mark now.
R.I.P. to a class act.
It is true. Just called myself.. ( not that I would ever doubt you diva). Just strange no one is officially reporting.
Not that Wikipedia is any kind of source, but it does list today. I'm still hoping this is not true. RIP to my favorite Designing Woman.
"Dixie Carter died the morning of April 10, 2010 after suffering complications of a stroke and long illness. Burial Plot 372, in The Hollywood Hills Cemetery."
It made it on Wiki.. which could have been any of you .

It wasn't there less than an hour ago.
Why this is taking so long to get out... I don't know. I do know that she doesn't have many "family" still living. She has a husband, Hal. A Sister and a nephew that I know of. Her Brother, parents, are all gone already. They were very private about her illness. She appeared on the prayer list at church several times. And that's how I learned she was sick. So, give it time.
For real? I am looking for confirmation too.
Is her passing going to be any more real to those here by seeing it plastered all over the internet and television? Several BWW were kind enough to confirm the news by actually phoning the theater and confirming the news.
She's gone. It's sad, yes. I don't see why some on here need more confirmation then the ones already posted. Go watch your favorite DW episode in her honor.

And I suppose I could've waited to let news outlets report. But, it's being reported as "fact" in Huntingdon. I just figured this board deserves to know. Dixie loved Broadway and I didn't see any point in not letting you know.
again, perhaps there has to be an official statement from family to the big outlets. also Radford. i don't like that your "report" was called FOUL or horrible to report.
i think you got a lot of info before you even posted it.
I keep checking CNN. is the town you live in reporting it on local news at all?

He hadn't even called the PAC before posting that she had died. All he had was rumor around town and ribbons on a building with no certainty.
And, yes, in this era of countless false death rumors, it is highly foul and horrible to post the way he did.
Do some of you not pay attention to things? Do you not hear of extended family and friends who have had to endure the false rumors--horrified until finally getting confirmation that they are not true?
Uh! This is so sad. One of the most influential women to me growing up. My mother and I always watched Golden Girls and Designing Women before bed until I was 10. If this is true, Rest in Peace.
Piper,
That thread on the Off Topic board was started by someone in this thread.
No, actually, I started it because my mom called me from Tennessee because she heard it. I called the box office. I didn't see this thread, so my apologies. That's what I get for never venturing to the main board.
Whoops!
Between this and Facebook...
I think it's pretty clear that all of these posts have been the result of affection and seeking community in the face of loss.
Let's not attack one another. If it turns out not to be true, we can all be happy together.
I know. It's bizarre. It just seems like they would have said something after so many hours. Maybe they are waiting for family to get in or something.
