I have blared to Judge Turpin's Johanna and A Little Priest in Sweeney Todd and gotten wierd looks as I am singing along. Older musicals have been covered. Now we need to convince many of them to look off Broadway and to look at plays even! It's also fun to find these little obscure musicals put on by regional houses that never get to Broadway or off-broadway. Just because a show isn't on Broadway doesn't mean it wasn't any good. Though sometimes they are bad, it just makes me appreciate the good ones more.

there is something good to say about even the most hideous things, although having just seen myself naked in the bathroom mirror, I may have to reconsider that statement
Seeing so many theater lovers and fans CHEER when Ben Vereen took the stage at the Pippin benefit concert made me well up a bit, knowing that they "got it", the power of musical theater, ANY musical theater is a tonic.
Discovering new "old" scores is inspiring, at the moment I'm obsessed with anything starring Nancy Walker and Phil Silvers, he's a new idol!
The OBC recording of Do Re Mi is pretty much changing my life, I adore it. I think we need a concert where all these amazing "new jacks" of the Broadway/Off Broadway stage sing, classic numbers from shows done BEFORE 1960, hey!, I think I just thought of my first show to create...
Sounds promising Eddie! A few of my goals for my first trip to New York is not only to see a Broadway show or two but to also hopefully catch an off-broadway show and either a benefit or a cabaret.

How about sing a song from the day you were born!? I was born the day Big River opened on Broadway. I am one of those youngunns, but not everyone had a musical open the day they were born.Is it sad that I take pride in that? (Don'ta answer that.) Soory for the tangent!

I also say...Wonderful post CelebrityDogWalker...I have been saying for some time now...That the people that post on here with no other purpose then to be mean...Are just plain sad! Are their lives so sad and empty that they can only try to make everyone else just as miserable as themselves? Personal attacks. Not just disagreeing... One poster not to long ago (will not put their name here) said of someone from hairspray... "but I do think she performs like a corpse. I was SO disappointed in her in Hairspray. Well..disappointed is an understatement. She was pretty terrible."
I don`t know ...maybe that person is a necrophiliac .Maybe they were giving an incredible compliment to the actor...Naaaah!Probably had their head caught up their A** for so long that they suffered permanent brain damage. Why people can not look for the good?Who knows...But it is very sad! That If you like something or someone...there are a few that are just waiting to steal your joy away. Also amazing that those people are such authorities on 'All' matters. Just my two cents.
Thank you for your wonderful post CelebrityDogWalker! I have to say that there isn't too much in musical theatre that I don't like. I love the new stuff, I adore the old stuff, and everything in between.
The best feeling in the world for me is to find a cd that I haven't listened to in a long time or forgotten that I had and to pop it in and to re-discover the magic of it. It's the best feeling in the world.
There is not a day that doesn't go by that I don't sing. I am not afraid to blast showtunes in my car. I sing in the car, in my dorm room, my house, the shower, or anywhere that I can. Singing and theatre are the positivley the best things in my life. For me singing it the perfect release. It expresses all and encompasses everything. I couldn't imagine my life without it.
I thank you personally Celeb for re-opening all our eyes to the truth, beauty, power, sheer joy and pure magic that is music and theatre.
