"I liked LB....thought it was pure fluff...but really well done and I really had fun.
I loved N2N, for being everything that LB is not. "
Couldn't agree more.
Mmmm I already have popcorn handy - hooray
Oh, and I like all the shows mentioned..:3
Love Next to Normal and 9 to 5 - Legally Bland was pure crap and the fans were even worse

Which amusingly, hasn't happened yet.
I wouldn't call myself a snob but I see a lot of theatre and I REALLY enjoyed myself at Legally Blonde it was a fun night out at the theatre and went home humming the lyrics, i thought it was a helluva lot better than 9 to 5.
i love lb, but i really don't like n2n or 9t5.

Well, I'm glad you told us, I don't know what we would have ever done without that knowledge.
I hate Legally Blonde but I love Next to Normal. I don't think liking one has anything to do with liking (or disliking) the other though.
Brian, that is actually a really good point. I hadn't thought about that. I was even going to counter with the fact that shows like Nine, 9 to 5, The Producers, Hairspray, and even Billy Elliot are at least adapted from either older films or just movies that weren't huge box office smashes (Billy Elliot may have been well received critically, but it was hardly a smash hit at the box office). At least I was going to counter until I woke up and read the headlines about Spider Man and Bridget Jones' Diary being made into musicals. One which we knew about for a while and both are technically also adapted from a comic and a book, but still. Wow...just wow.
Given its budget, the movie of BE turned a profit.
It might have turned a profit, but I don't think anyone would categorize it as a "hit." (Yes, I know the term is financially speaking, but it wasn't a mainstream success).
And, I think the best new original musical of the season (or the past couple years) is [Title of Show] - I would see that show numerous times, and I felt so emotionally connected to the show, and I don't know why. When they were happy I was happy. When they were sad, I was sad. I just didn't get that feeling at Next to Normal, and I'm just baffled that so many people seem to connect to that show. I'm not sure why I didn't.
i absolutely adore both shows in very different ways.
