I hope it does because then Wicked will get the Tony that it deserved!!!
Oh, get off it already.
AVENUE Q won. It deserved to win. And they're not going to take away its TONY.
HOw would a new rule apply to something that already won? Get over it.
Well, Avenue Q 'deserving' to win is just a matter of opinion.
It's not even an issue. It won, and we can do nothing to change it.
And why is this a debate over Wicked vs Ave Q
If any show DESERVED to win. It was Caroline or Change.
Once again, a matter of opinion. I never said we could change it, I'm just pointing out the fact that this person is obviously stating the opinion that Wicked should have won.
God. Get off it already. It doesn't SAY it's retroactive, so why would it be?
Pfft. Okay.
"Hi, Avenue Q. We just made this new rule and you broke it two years ago so we're gonna have to ask you to return your Tony. Yeah. Thanks."
I just wanna point out (again) that this should never have been an issue in the histroy of the Tony's.
People look for the Tony winners as the better shows. But because of this - it means nothing.
So, have they decided they want to be taken seriously?

Nobody deserved the Tony that year, there you have it, the right answer
Apparently your opinion is fact.
...or not.

I was joking. If I had voted that year, I probably would have given Best Musical to WICKED, but Best Score and Book to Avenue Q, that's just me.
Oh, stop it. All of you.
No one agrees on everything, and FOAnatic, opinion is not a fact. A fact is something that's real, and opinion is point of view, and whether you think it's bad or not. We can't do anything about the 2004 Tony's, and the decision they made. BSoBW said that it shouldn't have been an issue in the history of the Tony's. Hmm, did LION KING deserve to win over RAGTIME? Did THE PRODUCERS deserve to win over JANE EYRE? Did SPAMALOT deserve to win over LIGHT IN THE PIAZZA? Should any of the above issues be issues in the history of the Tony's? Everyone has different takes on these issues, and we all agree that the shows that won didn't deserve to, but some people think otherwise. And to the poster who posted this thread: Stop complaining and bringing the issue up, and move on. Please and thank you.
Please don't explain the difference between fact and opinion to me. I'm not in middle school.
I was being facetious.

In reference to Piazzaslight,
Other than opionated posts, the one thing that gets me more aggrivated is an anti-opinionated post, from an opinionated poster.
That's my opinion...

Wow you know its bad when you expect a sarcastic thread and get this...
Just out of curiousity...what exactly did Avenue Q do to warrant their Tony being taken away because of this rule?!
Thez914: Nothing. Absolutely nothing.
I still can't understand why Avenue Q was given Best Score. Don't get me wrong- I love the show. It somehow just seems a bit odd considering that I don't feel that the music is too...inspired...or...special. Sure, BEST BOOK, Amen, but score? Eh.
"I was joking. If I had voted that year, I probably would have given Best Musical to WICKED, but Best Score and Book to Avenue Q, that's just me."
Well doll, if ALL Tony voters were 12 years old, I have no doubt they would have ALL voted for WICKED.
