Posted: 10/16/07 at 10:22pmI do not know about either Broadway productions of the show, but when my school did this last year (I was Billy), I didn't tap at all. It seemed that with every big tap number, Billy exits right before they start. It sort of sucked because I was the only guy in the cast that actually could tap.

Posted: 10/16/07 at 10:48pmI've seen productions where he does AND productions where he doesn't. It can go either way, depending on the director/ casting, I suppose.

Posted: 10/16/07 at 10:53pmOh my goodness, we are having this debate in the production of Anything Goes I am in right now. Our Billy is an amazing tap dancer but if you take into account where his character is in the story and his motivations, he really should not be in the big tap number...The choreagrapher decided it was worth going against the character to have the strong dancer...

Posted: 10/16/07 at 11:56pmI remember seeing clips of the London production where he did tap. I did the show a year ago and we didn't have him on stage for the "Anything Goes" number
