I am a little confused about Dear Evan Hansen's standing room policy. Is there a standing room rush? My understanding is that the lottery is both for seats and standing room but somebody please explain this to me.

Those spots are sold via lottery, but when there are unclaimed lottery seats and/or SRO, they are sold to the cancellation line.

They closed the rush line for SRO because they didn’t want people sleeping overnight.
All SRO tickets are given out through the lottery, like the lottery tickets. When you win the lottery, your ticket might be SRO (I don’t think they tell you when you win, but I might be wrong).

So the only way to get reasonably priced tickets it to enter the lottery?
Or to wait on line and hope someone doesn't claim their tickets

Depends on your definition of reasonable. If you mean face value, you can get face value for spring of next year pretty easily. If you want to see Ben or Noah, then yes, lottery is your only option.
Standing room is lottery, but lottery seats are pretty good. I liked mine and it's definitely possible to win them! (I won them first performance after the Tony's) and my friend who did cancellation line got there at 2:30 am and her group of 4 got tickets. There were 2 hired sitters there who came at 11 the night before As well. At least 2 are handed out I'm assuming
