I'm going to see American Buffalo, my first show at Steppenwolf, while I'm on vacation in Chicago and would love to meet Tracy Letts. Does anyone know if there is a stage door?
Thanks!
I don't think they have one--that the actors use much anyway. When I saw a pre-Tony/Pulitzer Tracy Letts in a play at Steppenwolf a few years ago, he and the rest of the cast left through the lobby doors after most of the audience was gone. I think I even held the door for him!
I do not know, but if you ask at the theater, either the ushers or the house manager should be able to tell you. I've asked at the Goodman and Chicago Shakespeare in Chicago, and they were very helpful. (In both cases, the actors exit through the lobby.) I've only been in one theater where the housestaff refused to tell me, which was at the McCarter in Princeton, NJ (and if anyone knows where the stage door there is, please let me know!). And please let us know how it went!

Yes! It's in the little foyer at the first entrance, across from the box office window you'll see a door.
