Does anyone know the story on "Bang!"?

It's not on the A Little Night Music OCR and I don't think it's performed now. Was it cut from the original show or perhaps added later in a revival?

I just got the Putting It Together OCR and love the song in there, as well as on the 2000 DVD.

The number was cut from the original production before opening. I don't know if it was even rehearsed.
