A friend who's a huge fan asked me to post. Any post-Vampire plans publicly known yet?
Andrew
I don't know, but retirement I think he meantioned during one of his DOTV interviews.
Licking his wounds after DOTV. He should come back when Phantom is to close & play the final performances
He made an appearance at one of his children's charities in England in March to donate £250,000. -- Was supposed to appear in the Washington D.C. Memorial day concert but cancelled because of illness. Other than that, all is silence. After DotV, he said he was hungry for work, but so far, nothing.

I believe he'll be doing an open ended engagement in a show about a retirement home where he plays an over rated, aging actor who stuffed his pants when on stage and while he played the lead in a mega-hit, he also played the lead in a show that totally tanked. It's supposed to be based on a true story.

To Broadway star,
Some of us love this talented actor. Try not to be so cruel!

You haev to admit that everything in my post was true and he IS getting up there in age. He almost old enough to be Isabella Stevenson's trophy b1tch.
I hope he doesn't retire! I would hate to see him go out after DOTV. He needs to go out with a bang.

The retirement talks were I believe in reference to retiring after a few years of DOTV around the world. The latest word that I've heard is that he'll be doing a new CD next, but I haven't gotten confirmation on that yet.

Broadwayguy2 I am sick of your cruel remarks to Michael!!! Michael is not retireing, there is another musical in the works or something it maybe a rumor.
61 = retirement? Wow.
Michael is great. I hope he comes back to Broadway. If only he let that ego of his drop a little...

Broadwayguy2 - As a person of age I take great exception to your insulting, biased remarks regarding Michael Crawford's age. Most 61 year old men could only wish to look half as good as he does for his age. I'm tired of the younger generation's conception that older people are good for nothing but the rubbish heap. Michael Crawford has sustained a successful career for four decades - that doesn't happen in show business unless you are a talented professional. He has nothing to prove to you or anyone else. When you get to be 61 and look back on a long successful career then you will have room to talk. Until then, try to post intelligently.

p.s. The stuffed costume worn by Michael as Count Von Krolock was totally in line with the character - get it?
Hopefully Michael will retire.
He hit his high point with the film HELLO DOLLY (in which he's terrific) and it was all downhill from there.
I'd be glad to be spared of his singing voice! : )
I loved him in Hello, Dolly! but I think his voice is still amazing, and improved so muh as he got older! That man does not need to retire anytime soon.

Ah, brave of you to put your life story up there on the stage like that!
>I'd be glad to be spared of his singing voice! : )
This isn't "A Clockwork Orange," nobody has you strapped to a chair re-playing Crawford CDs over and over again. If you're hearing his voice, you must be setting it up yourself. So what's your beef?

Ok I have had it just because your 61 doesnot mean your dieing godforbid. Look at Barry Manilow same age as michael and still going strong so is Michael I didnot think he is really to hang up his red boots yet or mask. And Barry is going to Broadway in Harmony. These guys have more engry than I do. so don't put down michael! About a CD havenot heard anything but something is in the works. CD would be good or a musical. I loved Michael since he was 19 so sue me.And give him credit he does a lot for sick children some with Cancer!
A lot of us love Michael, and don't understand what the real big fun is in going out of one's way to attack him. People were going to the last week of DOTV just so they could laugh at him. That's disgusting, no one deserves that kind of treatment, whether or not you like their performances.
At the moment, no there is no news about Michael, but since he did say he's hungry to get back out there and show them he isn't dead yet, I'm sure he's making sure what he comes back with is good, and that takes time.
Dotti
And no, I do not admit that what you posted is correct in any way, with the exception that DOTV did not do well. Do you write the same things about Paul McCartney, Sean Connery, etc. many other talented and viable performers of the same age group? Or do you merely reserve it for Michael?
Dotti
No one's making you listen to Michael at any time. You don't like his singing voice, don't buy his CD's and dont go to his shows. There are plenty of us who do enjoy his voice greatly, and believe it has only gotten better with time.

I agree with Dotti, Michael still has what it takes and I only wish I can look that good at 61. And his voice has improved. I love michael always have and always will. So please keep the nasty bloody comments to yourself please, broadwayguy2 some of us enjoy Michael Crawford!!!! Give him the credit he deserves.

Okay Scooter, you had to bring it up!!!!! You had to bring it up!!!!!!!!! My blood pressure was just getting back to normal after a heated argument about that so-called movie version of TWHM. I guess you just did this to ruin my summer after a lackluster year in the classroom!!!!!!!
There NEVER was a movie version of HELLO, DOLLY!!!! Please remember that!!! It's the only way I can get through life!!!!!
(The next thing you know you'll be telling me that THE BIRDCAGE was better than LA CAGE AUX FOLLES!!!!!)

OH come on now!!! The movie version of Hello Dolly wasnot that bad. I will take Barbra Streisand over that dimpy Carol Channing anytime. And Crawford was ok. Sorry Dollypop I liked it.
>(The next thing you know you'll be telling me that THE BIRDCAGE >was better than LA CAGE AUX FOLLES!!!!!)
um IMHO yeah. The characters, (both gay and straight) were much more well-drawn and better developed in Robin's version than the characters in the French version.
I agree with you Dotty. Michael's voice has only gotten better with age. He is like a fine wine... I'm much younger than he is, and I find him very attractive (especially for his age!). I don't why some people have to be so cruel. They have some sadistic behavior in their ripping him apart that I find utterly disgusting.
As for me, I am 100% behind Michael and whatever decides to do next!! I know he is diligently looking now for something to really "come back with." I have no doubt he will find a terrific project after what he just went through with DOTV.
I've always held high hopes that he will someday come back to "Phantom" on Broadway just like Lea Solanga did with "Miss Saigon" and Terrence Mann did with "Les Miserables." That would be a special event. And I don't think at 61 he's too old either!
He'll always be THE PHANTOM!
Cheers!
