'40' The Musical
(I, know, for months I thought it read '10'!)
Rialto Theatre, Madrid.

I would rather sit through 'We Will Rock You' 247 times, 'Mama Mia' 364 times or even tie me to the chair at 'Dirty Dancing' before I see this thing again!

GOD! I miss London theatre some times! EDIT. All the time

'Chicago' El Musical opens here this weekend. with the biggest advance ever for a Spanish musical production.

When I read that it was called 40 I was expecting a reflective piece on the traumas of adapting to middle age.

Out of curiosity....has a good musical EVER come out of Spain?

(And that opening clip isn't hideous....not great either mind. But we all know Mama's hatred of rock...)

And after that we should all be thankful for London/regional theatre where we are!

I'd love to know what it's actually about-but not willing to listen to more to find out! How about a second helping of 'Too Close to the Sun instead Mama?

Maybe I'm on nobody's side http://phdconfessions.blogspot.com/

It's kind-of a jukebox musical except the branding is for a radio station rather than a particular band. Los 40 Principales is the main radio station in Spain and the show apparently features about 100-odd hits that have played on the station over the years.

Story-wise, from what I can gather it's about a bunch of twentysomethings making their way in the world; one of them starts a radio station and acts as narrator or something.
