Ana Gasteyer wins the prize for actually looking like the Wicked Witch of the West. (I'm sure Stephanie Block is great, but she looks like a green Glinda.)

The wand looks like it could be made of fiberoptics... If it lit up and changed colors, that would be hot. But it looks like it just stays dull and boring. No me gusta.

The "different" wand is only used during the cat fight scene in Act II. It's used because it's lighter and Glinda has to baton twirl it and I believe the real wand would be too heavy. I've noticed it every time I've seen Wicked in NY.

to clarify my above post i meant as opposed to the original wig plot (broadway version) that her older hair was curly and the yonger look had the longer straighter hair

Actually, no, you're wrong. I just saw the show again this past Wednesday and I distinctly remember the wands being different. When Glinda first comes down in the bubble she has the wand that's commonly known. When Glinda comes out in Act II before the Cat Fight scene, right after Nessa is killed, she has the light, fiber optic-like wand. Trust me.
